12 really awkward situations that happen more often than we’d want!

Ever been in a situation where you have absolutely no idea about what your next reaction should be? All of us have been in these socially awkward situations. They seem so commonplace that they shouldn’t freak us out anymore but alas, that’s never the case!

    1. Wearing the same clothes as someone else at a party

Admit it! We all have been there once. If you find yourself stuck in a situation like this, all you gotta do is walk up to that person wearing the same clothes as you and say ‘Hey! I love what you’re wearing!’ (Unless you’re JLO, in that case there’s no need to worry!)

    2. Bumping into your ex with your current S.O.

Had a bad breakup in the past?! Didn’t it seem like the most terrible thing back then? Well, you were wrong! Bumping into your ex with your current bae is definitely worse! But don’t worry, just introduce them to each other politely and let them do the talking.

    3. When you meet a person and don’t know their name while they call out to you!

You hear your name, you turn around and in your head you keep chanting ‘What’s her name? What’s her name? What’s her name?’ till you realize you’re screwed as she walks up to you.

    4. When someone tells you your fly is open

Whoops! How did that happen? At times like these, just pretend to be the invisible girl from the Fantastic Four series and walk around like a boss!

    5. When your ex decides to marry your cousin and your presence is inevitable

That’s a tricky one! Especially when you know you’ll have to meet the person who’s getting married to your cousin. All we could say to you is – Good luck doing that!

    7. Taking a dump in a public restroom

Well you’ve been inside the washroom forever and there’s a queue outside waiting for that creep (you!) to come out. Despite how hard you’ve been trying to make the process as silent as possible, those judgmental looks coming your way are inevitable! #JustSaying

    9. Bumping into your boss at the mall while you’ve called in sick at work!

So you called in sick at work and decided to get some beer with your friends at the mall. Here’s what you should NOT do when your boss spots you and drops in to say Hi – 1. Pretend that you don’t know him. 2. Look through him. 3. Grab your stuff and run.

    10. Asking someone at the store for a different style of clothing and then realising they don’t work there

There’s really no covering up for that. Maybe a slow moon walk in the opposite direction can help you get out of there fast enough.

    1. Sh*t I’m so hungover!

Now that’s a classic one. Let’s face it! Each one of us, at some point, has said it (unless you’re a teetotaler). But encountering those golden words coming from your peers must seem like a common phenomenon. Perhaps it’s time you make your peace with it!

You might want to add a little vodka to that! I mean life’s all about having fun right? If red bull makes you active, believe me – a little alcohol with it would do wonders. Like they say, only poison can cure poison!

7 Beauty Lessons from Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week

From barely- there makeup to a pop of ‘bright on the lips’, the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 had it all. Playing it safe is not the only make-up option next spring! We get you a roundup of the make-up essentials you need as seen at #WIFW.

Barely-there makeup is always a spring favourite and the runway took to this trend. Most designers preferred their models walking down the ramp with almost no makeup on, keeping things perfect for summer.

Go bare with the makeup but keep in mind that spring is all about colours. Designers Nida Mahmood and Payal Pratap added a bright pop of colours on the lips. Come spring and you will have to reconsider coral and red for the lips. Add a touch of smokiness to your eyes to brave the spring look. You can add a subtle nuance of black like Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh’s lineup of models or go smokey all the way like Rabani and Rakha’s models.

If you’re not a fan of heavy eye make-up then go graphic by adding a lower water line. Apply the colour of your outfit only to you lower eyelid like Designers Wendell Rodricks and Masaba Gupta. The flushed summer skin with minimal lip colour should be your beauty baseline come summer. Designers Shivan and Narresh had their models walk the catwalk with the fresh-out-of-the-water look and designers Hemant and Nandita went for the fresh summer face.

Go traditional and add a bindi to your outfit and red lip colour when you dress ethnic. Designer Chhaya Mehrotra’s line complemented this look perfectly. The best summer accessory is eye-wear. If you need inspiration for the kind of eyewear to go for, turn to line ups by designers Hemant and Nandita, Shivan and Narresh and Saaj by Ankita.

Their looks were completed with sky high wedges, round vintage sunglasses and handbags. Designer duo Shivan and Narresh’s resort wear consisted of cut-out monokinis and trikinis with sharp lines breaking away from the usual spring pastels. Their line inspired by Calder’s work used shades of brown, white and black complete with strappy heels. Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh’s line titled blue-blood displayed organic denims made out of woven khadi for men and women. The collection celebrated the versatility of denims complete with prints, metals, stripes, checks and polka dots. The label ‘Ashish N Soni’ by Ashish Soni displayed a line inspired by feathers. Crisp white rompers, dresses and separates for women made quite the statement for spring. Suits, jackets and pants with feather print made the cut for menswear.

    Trends From the Runway

Festivities took to the runway when designer Masaba Gupta’s models walked the catwalk donning firecrackers and jasmine flowers in place of a parandi. The line had a piece for every woman saris, dresses and suits with firecracker and zodiac prints along with statement neck pieces and sparkly embellishments. The queen of kitsch, Nida Mahmood’s collection ‘Good Luck Irani Cafe’ was fashionable, entertaining and comprehensive. The designer displayed dresses, shorts, saris in quirky summer prints paired with headgears made from flowers, ribbons, scarves and ballerinas made out of socks. Sporty chic got a metallic makeover with designer Shweta Kapur’s label 431-88. Arjun Saluja: The collection is an extension of the Autumn/Winter line. There are two parts to it, one is the essentials line which is basically the derivative line of Rishtaa which is the simpler line and the other is more avant-garde line which is the fall winter line from the season.

Ragini Ahuja: Ensemble is one store that has supported me through the beginning like right from the start so I’ve always been very excited forEnsemble previews and this is my first one in Ensemble Delhi and I’m very very excited.

Ragini Ahuja: So this is my Autumn/Winter ’14 collection, actually it’s a mix of my Summer’14 and my Autumn’14. Autumn ’14 is called ‘Metal’ and I’ve done a lot of reverse applique marble shibori and a lot of leather again.

  • What good is a bar if it doesn’t make you monkey around?

What good is a bar if it doesn’t make you monkey around?

    Monkey Bar Delhi

India’s first ‘gastropub’ Monkey Bar has now opened its doors in Connaught Place, Delhi. Need reasons to drop in? We’ve got you plenty.

Monkey Bar gave the term ‘gastropub’ a unique makeover with an Indian twist. This fun and quirky New York-inspired bar promises much more than just food and drinks. Warm service, drinks served in jars and Moscow mules and a relaxed vibe is what you should expect. Nakul Chandra, Business Development Manager at Monkey Bar, told us about everything amazing at the bar, here are the excerpts from the interview.

Nakul Chandra: Gastropub is a very simple concept. I know the name sounds a little bit fancy but it’s not. It’s just a pub or a bar that usually you go to for drinks but we serve really good food and that’s where the gastro angle comes in. Our burgers are really famous and we put a lot of effort into them. And other than that our cocktails, so not just trade drinks and beer, we keep innovating and changing flavours that suit the Indian palette.

Already an established name in Banglaore and Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, Monkey Bar has now reached the heart of the city, Connaught Place. While this seems to be a part of the strategy to win over all the bar-lovers in the city, it’s actually their love for the heritage and the architecture that got them to CP.

Nakul Chandra: It is where people, anyone who comes to Delhi for the first time, if they want to come anywhere its India Gate or CP. So this has historical value, it’s a gorgeous place I mean if you look at CP, the architecture, the heritage everything is amazing. So we wanted to be a part of the revival of CP.

Innovation and creativity is exactly what you see when you enter Monkey Bar. Not only the decor but also the signature food and drinks are customized to the location of the bar.

    Monkey Bar, Delhi Menu

Nakul Chandra: So drinks would be ‘Mangaa’ that is our main signature drink which is an ‘Aam Panna’ based cocktail which has been with us since the opening of the first monkey bar in Bangalore (patch). For Connaught place we have created a new signature called Cherry Pop “CP”, that’s a drink which is made with cherries as well as candy so it has got a very nice colour and it has got a very nice flavour to it. Copper Monkey is another one which is served in a copper mug, its take on a Moscow mule and that’s based with whiskey. Food-wise like I said burgers our are main signature we’ve got some Indian food which is also our take on regular classics like ‘Tikki of Joy’ which is a Calcutta inspired dish so that’s got fish in a Calcutta-style mustard sauce and we‘ve got ‘Berry Pulao’ which is a Parsi dish very traditional Chicken-Pulao made with Parsi berries so those are our signatures.

Monkeybar menu with mouth watering temptations

With a strict no reservations and no judgement policy, Monkey Bar is managed by a bunch of happy and welcoming people/staff who offer a bit more than a usual neighbourhood bar would.

Nakul Chandra: We have a pool table in all our bars across the countries and they are all free of charge. We do not charge for them, it’s a part and parcel of the experience at Monkey Bar. So we would like everyone to come and play and have a good time and enjoy themselves. We take great pride in foosball ourselves because we are always playing it so any guest who wants to challenge us is always welcome to.
