    Did you know the ‘Peace For Paris’ symbol was designed in less than a minute?

    The evening of 13th November will always be remembered as one of the most dreaded days of 2015. The series of coordinated terrorist attacks that took place in France did not just include hostage-taking but mass shootings and suicide bombings as well. Many innocent people suffered the darkness of terrorism for reasons every one is trying to fathom. People were killed, faith was shattered and around midnight emerged the ‘Peace For Paris’ symbol sending out a strong message to the heartless that the world is united and will fight back.

    French graphic designer Jean Jullien, otherwise based out of London, is the man behind the simple yet very powerful illustration that showcases a peace symbol with the Eiffel tower, rendered in bold, black strokes against a white background. Within 24 hours the sign was seen as profile pictures on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now on T-shirts, posters and flags.

     Jullien, who is currently not in France, caught up with Wired.com and here are things you need to know about the powerful symbol and its inception.

    #1 It took Jullien less than a minute to design the ‘Peace For Paris’ symbol.

    #2 It wasn’t made using an elaborate computer software, but just on a sketchbook using ink and a brush.

    #3 The image of the symbol was the first thing that came to his mind as an instinctive reaction to the attacks.

    #4 He only posted it on Twitter and Instagram and it spread as a symbol of peace and solidarity the world over within a couple of hours.

    #5 It has almost 160,000 likes on Instagram and 60,000 retweets on Twitter within a span of 2 days.

    Dilwale’s trailer is out and this is what we understood after we were through!

    Rohit Shetty and team’s Dilwale’s trailer came out last night and it’s making news by all the praise, views and shares it’s been getting. The evergreen on-screen couple, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol can be seen working their charm after years along with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sonan in the most awaited movie of the year.

    The three-minute trailer shows two very different looks of SRK and even of Kajol. The movie also casts Boman Irani, Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra, well, because Rohit Shetty’s movie needs a little comedy.

    The trailer teases a few action sequences that show the bad ass side of Shah Rukh Khan. You’ll see some cars being blown because without that you can’t say if it’s a Rohit Shetty movie.

    But other than the dreamy sequences between SRK and Kajol and a slightly confusing story (as of now) with respect to Dhawan and Sanon, we’re not quite sure as to what the movie has to offer. Here’s hoping another trailer will be out soon to shed some light on things to expect from the movie other than just the star cast and the very apparent Rohit Shetty flavour.

    Dilwale will be out on 18th December, which is the same release date for Bajirao Mastani.

    7th November, 2015 will go down in history for Mumbai as a legend performed in the city of dreams for the first time ever. Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators had their fans head-banging and screaming till the night lasted at the Reliance JIO Gardens. The fans started rolling in at the venue around 4 in the evening to catch every bit of the concert and some of the lucky ones got to meet Slash! (FYI: That’s a rock n‘roll lover’s dream).  Thermal And A Quarter (TAAQ), Them Clones and Ginger Feet opened for the legend. As the day passed by and the night took over, people had their eyes glued to the stage, for the curtain to fall and witness a concert that Mumbai will remember for ages. In India for his World on Fire Tour after fifteen long years; we believe that Slash was as excited as his fans before the epic concert begun.

    Just after making the entrance and performing the first song, Myles started the interaction with his fans by a very warm “Namaste, Mumbai!” and that was the moment each and every one had their voices screaming and cheering! After every song they performed, Myles thanked the crowd by a “shukriya!” He actually did some homework before coming on stage.

    When you have Myles on vocals and one of the best guitarists of the world performing in front of you with the Conspirators, there’s nothing you’d ask for at least in that current situation. Slash had everyone gripped to their spot while he slayed some maddening solos on his Les Paul and believe us when we say this, we had our eyes on God working his magic that left us awestruck.

    People jumped and had their jaws dropped as they saw Slash pulling off insane riffs that were too good to be real. The concert had two highlights; when Sweet Child O’ Mine was played out of nowhere and when the concert ended very abruptly… or not! Because the band came back on stage while the crowd cheered for another song and Paradise City was played. That was one groundbreaking act, hands down! Now, we don’t know when will be the next time we see Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators but we hope it happens soon.

    We made a trip to Mumbai for the sole reason of seeing the Legend perform live and it was worth every dime! Next concert is in Bengaluru on 14th November and if you missed the Mumbai concert, we’re telling you, this might just be once in a lifetime opportunity for you. Cheers!

    This video game creator has taken creativity to an entirely new level and we’re nothing but impressed.

    Conceptualising an open-world survival video game that’s supposed to come out somewhere in 2016, Kevin Cancienne thought of a virtual world where you’re a homeless dog roaming the streets of a city and you need to find your way around with the cruelties of life.

    The video game creator hoped to raise an amount of USD 50,000 on Kickstarter.com to commence this project and just look at where he is now – Yes, Cancienne has successfully raised USD 98,328 as of 6th November 2015. Boy, now that’s some moolah coming his way for an extremely thoughtful project that is aimed to inculcate the feelings of empathy and respect for these little furry babies.

    Kevin Cancienne also ran a campaign on Twitter with the hashtag #homefreemydog asking users from all around the world to share pictures of their dogs that maybe used in the video game. Needless to say, he received a massive response on the social networking website and dog lovers the world over among others can’t wait for this game to be out with of the 6 dogs that have been shortlisted already.

    When you’re at Bacardi NH7 Weekender and surrounded by thousands of screaming and dancing fans, you will have your bag that will have all the things that might turn into your necessities.

    – A power bank because you need to prove to your friends what a maddening event it was and your phone won’t make videos or take pictures when it’s dead.

    – A jacket would be a really good idea because you don’t want to shiver at the concert unless you have trouble dancing but shivering isn’t really dancing.

    – A selfie stick, if you’re short, it’s a must for you. No offence.

    – Sunblock and facial tissues, because in Delhi you cannot trust the weather.

    – Carrying Odomos is what we’ll call smart thinking. Just an extra measure, the weight won’t kill you.

    – A few bandages with a pack of cotton and a small bottle of any antiseptic lotion like Dettol.

    – A pair of shades. That needs no reason.

    – A big bottle of water because you have to keep yourself hydrated and you can’t do that with alcohol. That’s sheer stupidity. Plus, you just can’t walk to the beverages counter every now and then to get yourself water.

    – Some extra money you should keep aside. You can hope that you don’t find the opportunity to use it but if at all there is need, you’ll be prepared.

    – Carrying some snacks is good too, like, energy bars, a pack or two of chips. You’re there for music and not food. But you’ve got to feed the hungry stomach.

    As reported by Mumbai Mirror earlier today, the stunt director of Game of Thrones (who is also the stunt director for the upcoming Bollywood movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo) was so impressed with the actor’s dedication in the month-long training he had for the movie, that he has now offered him a role in this legendary TV show.

    Neil, who is also a major GOT fan, has confirmed the reports by stating that the role he’s been offered is in talks and its formal announcement is awaited.

    What’s more? The actor also stated that he has no problem in going all nude in the show. We can’t wait to see what role is in store for him; though for now, let’s just hope he does not get killed in the first few episodes (sigh).

    This news has got us doing the Bhangra! Punjabi just became the third official language of Canadian Parliament after English and French! It’s been four years since Punjabi was figured to be the third most common language to be spoken in Canada. And its finally official, after the election of 20 Punjabi-speaking candidates of the House of Commons took over the mantle of Commonwealth’s legislature.

    Out of the 20 Punjabi-speaking MPs, fourteen are men and the remaining six are women. Also, 18 out of those MPs, 12 are Liberals and 2 are conservatives.

     “The voice of the Indo-Canadian community will now be very well represented in the Parliament. In the overall aspect of it, the South Asian community won,” said MP Deepak Obhrai of the Conservative Party.

    According to the 2011 National Household Survey taken by Statistics Canada, there were 430,705 Canadians who referred to Punjabi as their mother tongue, which made Punjabi the third most common language after English and French. That basically means, 1.3% of Canada’s population communicates in Punjabi. Another really cool thing, the 20 Punjabi-speaking MPs represent the six per cent of the House of Commons.

    Peace is the way forward for both India and Pakistan, two nations that are politically divided but habitually so united that the similarities never fail to amaze anybody. And to highlight the solidarity between the common people of both the countries, Mumbai-based Ram Subramanian started a campaign called Profile for Peace.  

    The 36-year old “artivist” as he calls himself, was startled when he heard about a renowned Pakistani artist being banned from performing in India by the Shiv Sena in Mumbai. To voice his opinion against these actions he resorted to social media and posted the following picture with the heart-touching note, urging people to change their profile pictures in support.

    The two day extravaganza of the 11th edition of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015 presented a transcending collaboration between designers and musicians showcasing their creative inspirations and fine influences. Bringing out the finest ‘col.lab.orations’, the tour commenced on 17th and 18th of October at the prime location Leela Ambience, Gurgaon. The audience witnessed a blend of tradition and glamour with exquisite detailing, rich legacy and magnificent music. Here’s everything you need to know about the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015.

    The first day of the Blenders Pride Fashion tour witnessed a collaboration between couturier Anju Modi, Eros International and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Inspired by the unique, timeless and rich legacy highlighting the history of Bajirao, the collection was a fusion of traditional Marathi outfits and authentic Persian costumes. Bringing the era to life was actor Deepika Padukone, walking the ramp donning the final creation by the designer.

    The second day at the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015 kicked off with designers Abraham & Thakore’s collection ‘The Sustainability Project’. Taking inspiration from the recycled remnants of cotton, silk, hooks and buttons (collectively known as Kantha), the ensembles marked influences of exquisite detailing and classic garment shapes for a timeless Indian wardrobe. The designer duo recreated a unique collection of silhouettes with antique brocades, sequins, laces in shades of ivory, charcoal, coffee, plum etc.

    Also showcasing his collection on the second day was Designer Rahul Mishra. His collection ‘The Village’ was a contemporary story of the natural coexistence of nature and mankind. Epitomising elegance with distinguished craftsmanship, the collection was a blend of trench dresses, jackets, trousers, sheer skirts in shades of white, nude, black and violet handcrafted to perfection. Making models dance to the beats of jazz-and-blues influenced electronica was Madboy/Mink, whose music made everybody groove. With actor Neha Dhupia as showstopper, the show was a complete delight to the eyes.

    The label Dev R Nil is one promising name that always stands out at the India Fashion Week season after season. The designer duo Debarghya Bairagi & Navonil hail from Kolkata and have wooed their fans with their outfits from the very start. This summer their collection named ‘Journey’ lived up to the reputation, yet again.

    DRN like, every other year, came up with a collection for men as well at the Amazon India Fashion Week SS16. Talking about the collection, it was inspired by the 60s, discovering oneself and celebrating life. As Dev R Nil’s story says, “step into a room and we’ll be hard to miss”, let their collection be the one to prove it to you once again.

    Designer duo Dev R Nil presented a fabulous collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week that was decked with floral prints induced with very carefully chosen colours like green, indigo, grey, yellow and more. The intricate lacework and embroidery made the collection stand out giving women something cool, classy and different to choose from.

    Designer duo Gauri and Nainika recently launched their latest collection from the Amazon India Fashion Week and their bridal collection from the BMW Bridal Fashion Week at the multi-brand store ‘Neel Sutra’ at the Oberoi, Gurgaon. The launch was an elegant affair that witnessed a huge turnout of fashion enthusiasts making the event a grand success. Take a look.

    ‘Neel Sutra’ is a concept store that retails many brands and is co-curated by designer Deepika Govind and FDCI president, Sunil Sethi. Deepika Govind was pleased to have an association with Gauri and Nainika and was excited to see the store in a completely different look.
