  • 11 suit commandments every man should follow!

11 suit commandments every man should follow!

Formal dressing can be a bit of a pain for some, but donning that perfect ensemble with just the right accessories can make any man look dapper. Sir Barney Stinson once said – “Suit up!” (We recommend staying away from the ducky tie).

And with the right details in the right place you can make heads turn. For those who are not too sure about the ‘details’ we’re talking about here; take a look at this set of eleven suit commandments every man should follow!

    1. Thou shalt always wear a tie with the exact same lapel as the size of your tie.

An uneven tie represents all the wrong things with your suit. Make sure your tie is in a darker shade than your shirt so it stands out!

2.Thou shalt wear cufflinks that are visible even with a jacket over your shirt.

Cufflinks are cool and classy. Make sure your shirt’s sleeve is a little longer than your jacket’s, so the cufflinks are visible. Keep experimenting with various designs of cufflinks and keep it fresh.

    3. Thou shalt invest in double breasted jackets!

Double breasted jackets are much cooler than the traditional ones. They’re fashionable and make a statement with the perfect fit adding to your dapper look!

    4. Thou shalt match your accessories!

Make sure your shoes go well with your belt. You don’t want to be the “funny guy” for the wrong reasons.

    5. Thou shalt invest in a tailored suit.

You and your suit will only look good together if it’s a perfect fit. If you’re buying yourself a pre-stitched suit make sure you check the comfort and size from your shoulders. Remember, if it’s not comfortable, it’s not worth it.

    6. Thou shalt wear a contrasting pocket square.

A pocket square is your attention grabbing device. Be creative with it, experimentation is the key to style.  Do not, we repeat DO NOT match your pocket square with your shirt.

    7. Thou shalt not button your three-piece suit.

If you’re wearing a three-piece suit, make sure you don’t button the jacket, keep the vest buttoned-up. Almost every man breaks this silent rule and not everyone can pull it off.

    8. Thou shalt invest in matching socks.

Your socks should be matching and long enough to cover your legs when you sit down. Plain solid coloured socks are passé. Get printed socks to make your look even better!

    9. Thou shalt position your tie perfectly!

Your tie should be touching the waistband or can be slightly short. But refrain from making it too long or too short. Remember, an ill-looking tie spoils the entire show.

    10. Thou shalt open your jacket while sitting.

When sitting, unbutton your jacket to prevent it from being ruined.

    11. Thou shalt invest in double vented jackets.

Single vents on jackets are too old fashioned. Double vents are slightly more comfortable and look cooler!

Now that you know what to do, make sure you keep these 11 commandments in your head when you suit up!

  • Get the perfect smokey eye with these simple steps!

Get the perfect smokey eye with these simple steps!

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not so hard to get the perfect smokey eye at home. Before stepping out in the evening next time, take a look at this tutorial and get the flawless look.

    INPOST

Step 1. Prep and prime the eyes to prevent the eye makeup from creasing. You can use an eye primer or concealer of your choice.

Step 2. With a black eyeliner, cover the entire eyelid (stopping just underneath the crease). Don’t worry about being precise; we will eventually blend this out.

Step 3. With the pointy brush, blend the eyeliner all over the eyelid (again, just below the crease).

Step 4. With a shading brush, apply a dark brown eye shadow all over the eyelid, taking the colour upwards (slightly passing the crease).

Step 5. With a fluffy blending brush, buff-out the sharp lines and edges, blending the colours together for a seamless finish. Use small circular motions.

Step 6. Using a flat eye shading brush, press on black eye shadow all over the eyelid stopping just before the brown colour starts. Blend the black colour up into the brown eye shadow using the fluffy blending brush again.

Step 7. Using the pointy brush again, apply the same dark brown eye shadow to draw a line along the bottom lash line.

Step 8. Using black eye pencil or gel liner, line your lower waterline. Curl your lashes and apply 2-3 coats of black volumising mascara or you may use false lashes.

Step 9. Using a clean eye shadow brush, apply a shimmery beige eye shadow to the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye. And you’re done.
