Designer Manish Malhotra unveiled his summer collection recently at the Lakme Fashion Week held in Mumbai. This was Malhotra’s first ever offsite show amongst all his associations with Lakme Fashion Week. It marked the launch of ‘WEvolve’ a global campaign and programme aimed at empowering young men and women to challenge norms that lead to gender violence.
The designer’s latest collection showcased mirror work and floral embroidery while adding a 3D and textural effect to the elegant pieces. Stylish jewellery by Anmol Jewellers added the bling to the collection that was dominated by hues of blue with a bold touch of variations of yellow reflecting the assurance of a positive forthcoming.
Hollywood actress Rosario Dawson joined the designer for opening the show along with Bollywood divas like Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandes, Shabana Azmi, Sridevi, Huma Qureshi, Neha Dhupia and Sophie Choudry were also present at the event looking gorgeous as ever.
The clothing line included flowy gowns, jacket-saris, halter crop tops and skirts as an ode to the traditional lehenga. Since the show was about gender empowerment, the designer gave special attention to the men’s collection incorporating bandhgala jackets and long shirts tailored to perfection. This youthful collection by the designer celebrated the essence of positivity and change keeping in mind the younger generation which is the key agent to change.

2. Ban on clubs after 10pm – Of course, it isn’t safe. Really.
3. Ban on pairing Indian food with Chinese at a restaurant. Yes, it’s disrespectful.
4. Ban on Diwali card parties. That’s illegal!
5. Ban on having more than two drinks at a bar. Drinking makes you a bad person. Two drinks are all you get.
6. Ban on wearing short clothes (even for men). Ditch those summery shorts.
7. Ban on movies that are shot at exotic international locations. You’re supposed to be promoting only your own country, after all!
8. Ban on using 3G for porn (when you can do so many other educational things with mobile internet).
9. Ban on international days that are just stupid – like Valentine’s Day (Wait… Isn’t that already banned?!)
10. Ban on learning another language… like French. And what’s the point? When we have so many languages in our own country!
And the list goes on. No. Let’s not ban more things. There are more pressing issues in our country that need to be dealt with, immediately. What someone is eating or drinking isn’t one of them! How about giving those a thought?

4) The endless tagger: A new notification on your phone? Yes, it has to be that annoying friend who has probably tagged you in a funny picture or a video! It’s kinda nice to know they think of you when they see such things but the sh*t gets annoying when they think way too much.
5) The Photographer: This person loves to click just about anything. With a passion for clicking pictures like those DSLR newbies, they just get annoying after a while. Let’s admit it, nobody wants to see their timeline swamped with random, wannabe-artsy nonsensical pictures all the time! #PhotoOfTheDay
6) The pet lovers: Their account handle ideally should have been by their pet’s name since clearly all one discovers in there is unlimited cutesy pictures of their pets. And those pictures put them in our list of irritating people on Instagram.
7) The food fanatic: Food pictures are the only thing you see on their account, and yes it usually looks delectable *DROOLS*, but also annoying as h**l when you’re sitting at your workstation with no signs of gourmet platters coming your way anytime soon!
8) The friend who lacks originality: This one will upload long quotes from Marilyn Monroe, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde blah blah blah…just to establish something that they probably don’t understand themselves. What we understand from their pictures is just writing them off as irritating people on Instagram.
9) The party enthusiast: Yes, maybe the one you are jealous of. Booze, parties, chikas and what not? – Chances are that this person makes you want to hide your face in a hole with your not-so-happening existence

British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John expressed his outrage towards the fashion brand ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ last Sunday for making remarks against same-sex marriage and gay adoptions in an interview with the Italian fashion magazine ‘Panorama’.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbano, the founder-duo of the famous Italian brand quoted that the children who aren’t born into traditional families are “children of chemistry”. Here’s what they stated in the 12th March, 2015 issue of the Italian magazine ‘Panorama’ – “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow; there are things that should not be changed.”
To which the furious songwriter/legend responded by saying “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic.” And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF — a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children.“
