Watch out: These bans too are probably coming our way soon!

Let’s just start with India’s current obsession with ‘bans’. From banning beef to movies, stand-up comedy to documentaries… let’s just say banning ‘things’ which we believe don’t really hamper world peace or the peace of mind amongst people in the country is something that’s totally uncalled for.

Just to refresh our memories, here is a list of a few bans (irrelevant in most of the cases) that have already been exercised in our country

    1. Beef Ban.

    2. Banning ‘50 Shades of Grey’… ‘PK’ (Well, almost!), ‘MSG’, ‘Dirty Politics’ etc.

Now, here’s a list of bans that might come into the picture anytime soon leaving everyone puzzled. Don’t blame us later… This is actually a heads up. Here it goes. *deep breath*

    1. Ban on taking selfies. What if taking selfies is classified as a crime in the future? Dang! A lot of people would be disappointed.

    2. Ban on clubs after 10pm – Of course, it isn’t safe. Really.

    ban-youre-banned
    3. Ban on pairing Indian food with Chinese at a restaurant. Yes, it’s disrespectful.

    ban-youre-banned
    4. Ban on Diwali card parties. That’s illegal!

    ban-youre-banned
    5. Ban on having more than two drinks at a bar. Drinking makes you a bad person. Two drinks are all you get.

    ban-youre-banned
    6. Ban on wearing short clothes (even for men). Ditch those summery shorts.

    ban-youre-banned
    7. Ban on movies that are shot at exotic international locations. You’re supposed to be promoting only your own country, after all!

    ban-youre-banned
    8. Ban on using 3G for porn (when you can do so many other educational things with mobile internet).

    ban-youre-banned
    9. Ban on international days that are just stupid – like Valentine’s Day (Wait… Isn’t that already banned?!)

    ban-youre-banned
    10. Ban on learning another language… like French. And what’s the point? When we have so many languages in our own country!

And the list goes on. No. Let’s not ban more things. There are more pressing issues in our country that need to be dealt with, immediately. What someone is eating or drinking isn’t one of them! How about giving those a thought?

     3) The silent spectator: We all have this one friend who doesn’t have a single picture on his/her account, but yes he/she doesn’t let your pictures go unnoticed. Chances are, this person doesn’t even have a display picture but never fails to double tap your uploads!

    4) The endless tagger: A new notification on your phone? Yes, it has to be that annoying friend who has probably tagged you in a funny picture or a video!  It’s kinda nice to know they think of you when they see such things but the sh*t gets annoying when they think way too much.

    endless tagger

     5) The Photographer: This person loves to click just about anything. With a passion for clicking pictures like those DSLR newbies, they just get annoying after a while.      6) The pet lovers: Their account handle ideally should have been by their pet’s name since clearly all one discovers in there is unlimited cutesy pictures of their pets. And those pictures put them in our list of irritating people on Instagram.

     8) The friend who lacks originality: This one will upload long quotes from Marilyn Monroe, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde blah blah blah…just to establish something that they probably don’t understand themselves. What we understand from their pictures is just writing them off as irritating people on Instagram.

  • “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as synthetic” – Sir Elton John boycotts fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana

“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as synthetic” – Sir Elton John boycotts fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana

British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John expressed his outrage towards the fashion brand ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ last Sunday for making remarks against same-sex marriage and gay adoptions in an interview with the Italian fashion magazine ‘Panorama’.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbano, the founder-duo of the famous Italian brand quoted that the children who aren’t born into traditional families are “children of chemistry”. Here’s what they stated in the 12th March, 2015 issue of the Italian magazine ‘Panorama’ – “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow; there are things that should not be changed.”

    dolce-gabbana-elton-john.4

To which the furious songwriter/legend responded by saying “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic.” And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF — a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children.

Here’s a screen shot of Sir Elton John’s Instagram from last week that further elucidates his anger and his decision to boycott Dolce & Gabbana with the hashtag #BoycottDolceGabbana.

The only thing that baffles us is the fact that the duo once appeared in a 2005 edition of ‘Vanity Fair’ magazine posing for a ‘Family photograph’ with kids.

  • 7 illustrations that tell you why startups are the coolest places to work at!

7 illustrations that tell you why startups are the coolest places to work at!

We understand that a multinational corporate pays a lot more than a startup, particularly to freshers, and the swanky job also comes with a lot of cushy benefits. Working at a startup probably means that you work with a small team… most likely just a handful of people. That BTW has its own benefits, especially for the creative junkies out there. Don’t believe us? Take a look at these seven illustrations by the WittyFeed below to see why startups are the coolest places to start your career at.

    1) We have ‘No-shave November’ almost every month. You really do not need a haircut or need to shave everyday if you work at a startup. We just care about the work and also we are used to you looking like this.

    1

    2) On-the-job-sleeping, beanbags and comfy sofas is what a startup offers as cushy benefits. There is everything you need to rest your bum on after lunch and work. And yes if you sleep, there will be a bunch of pictures haunting your social networks. Did we mention funny pictures?

    2
    3) Formals?!? – Just wear whatever you want, from sneakers to slippers. Formals are only needed when there is a rare meeting with the outside world. So feel free to shop and fill your wardrobes with the coolest, most colourful clothes, because everything is just… well… cool!

    3
    4) Team meetings are referred to as group chats. We don’t believe in sitting formally on the table and discussing plans. Meetings start with a casual discussion on the sofa with a cup of coffee and end pretty much the same way.

    4

    5) Nocturnal forever! When everyone is heading home in the evening, we get up and go to work. Flexible work timings and a lot of ‘work from home’ days is just what startups are all about.

    5

    6) We are loud and very proud. Play some music, converse across the table, work, sleep, repeat.

PS – Parties are not a daily affair, but when we do have one, people envy us. If you know what we mean!

    6

    7) Skills over Degrees. Startups look for people who have skills and are creative. Degrees always do not come handy when you want to move out and explore life. So, if you are creative and want to really utilise your innate talents while having some fun, go and join a startup today.
