Here’s why Ranveer Singh is the coolest man at 30! Happy Birthday!

With just 5 years of his stay in B’town, Ranveer Singh sure has won the hearts of many including the queen of hearts Deepika Padukone. Not only is he known for his quirky style and don’t-give-a-rat’s-a*s attitude, his movies have made a special mark for themselves starting from Band Baaja Baaraat to his latest hit Dil Dhadakne Do.

The actor turned 30 today and we can’t help but write about how awesome he is. Take a look.

1) It should be illegal to be this cool

Remember when Hrithik Roshan challenged his Bollywood co-stars for the Bang Bang dare on Twitter? He challenged Ranveer Singh to pose in the middle of any main street in Mumbai for his fans. Pose he did, but took the challenge up a notch by dancing on the streets on Hrithik’s songs itself.

2) Because he isn’t afraid of anything or anyone

Ranveer Singh is one of the very few Bollywood stars to have endorsed a condom brand and promoted safe sex. With the type of influence Bollywood has in India, we wish there were more celebrities taking up such causes.

3) He really isn’t

Relationship Goals: Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis tie the knot!

Our faith in love has been restored and how! Reportedly, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have finally tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony in Los Angeles. A source told PEOPLE about the ceremony without any further information.

The couple first met on Fox’s That 70s Show which aired from 1998 to 2006 but they began dating in 2012. Kunis has been spotted wearing an engagement ring since 2014 which also happens to be the year the couple welcomed their daughter Wyatt Isabelle.

Why do all good things come to an end? RIP: Bennifer

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck first met as co-stars on the sets of Pearl Harbor, then reconnected during their 2003 film Daredevil and started dating soon afterwards… it was love indeed.

The trouble in their relationship had been brewing for years and we all saw Jennifer Garner trying her best to salvage her marriage with Ben Affleck for the sake of their kids. Apart from his movies, Ben Affleck had been known for his bad boy image and when the couple started their family, the whole world thought that those good ol’ days of gambling, drinking and flirting were over for Affleck.

Although Garner had never criticised him publically, the couple had been seeking help from marriage counselors for quite some time now but all in vain. They decided to separate their ways and announced their divorce officially after months of speculation about their marital status.

The US Navy has come up with a new aircraft launch system called EMALS (Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System) which is just a euphemism for a slingshot on steroids.

Compared to ye olde steam catapults, this new launch system is relatively lighter, smaller and requires less maintenance. It provides greater speed, acceleration and precision… all this while being Eco-friendly. The Naval Air Warfare Center also reported that this system took over 15 years in the making.

The main purpose of this new aircraft launch system is to help more aircraft take off, manned or unmanned. Results show up to 25% faster!

Here’s a way to find the right blush for your skin tone!

DIY: Make your own stationery holder

Here’s a cool DIY to make your own stationery holder at home using very basic items that you’d probably throw away! Take a look

Things you need: magazine, empty tissue paper roll, mod podge, glue stick, craft paper, a pair of scissors, a pencil and a brush

Steps:

1. Take the empty tissue paper roll.

2. Use the craft paper to carve out the base and cut out the shape leaving a substantial edge.

3. Apply mod lodge at the base of the roll and place it carefully on the cut out. Let it dry.

4. Take the magazine and pull out colourful pages with different designs/textures of your choice and trim the edges.

5. Use the pencil to roll the magazine paper as shown in the picture

6. Apply glue stick while rolling for consistency, pull the pencil out and repeat the steps.

7. Measure the desired length of the roll and clip it from one end.

8. Now stick the roll on the base using mod podge.

9. Continue the process till the base is covered and you’re done.

10. Put the stationery into the holder.

19 new additions in The Oxford English Dictionary that you need to know now!

It’s a popular saying that the English language has never come across a word that it hasn’t tried to embrace as its own. Probably this is why The Oxford English Dictionary is constantly upgrading and adding new words, making it one of most dynamic and vibrant representations of language and culture.

The good people at the Oxford University Press are always at their best when it comes to keeping up with pop culture and legitimising more and more of the words that we use in common parlance. Besides hybrid words even Indian terms and expressions have entered the glossary. Take a look at these new additions in the lexicon.

1) Fo-shizzle– (US informal) For sure; definitely

2) Meh– Expressing a lack of interest or enthusiasm

3) Badmash– A dishonest or unprincipled man

4) Angrez– An English person

5) Cray– Crazy

6) Mamil– A middle-aged man who is a very keen road cyclist, typically one who rides an expensive bike and wears the type of clothing associated with professional cyclists

7) Shiny bum– A bureaucrat or office worker

8) Ant’s pants– An outstandingly good person or thing

9) Sticker licker– An official who issues parking fines

10) Pukka– Genuine, cooked, ripped

11) Bae– A person’s boyfriend or girlfriend

12) Janky– Of extremely poor or unreliable quality

13) Lolcat– (On the internet) A photograph of a cat accompanied by a humorous caption written typically in a misspelled and grammatically incorrect version of English

14) Amazeballs– Extremely good or impressive

15) Chudidar– Tight trousers made with excess material at the bottom of the legs, which falls in folds around the ankles, traditionally worn by people from South Asia

16) Yaar– Is defined as a noun to address a ‘familiar form of address: friend, mate’

17) Twerk– Dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance

18) Arré – Used to express annoyance, surprise, or interest, or to attract someone’s attention

First Indian drafted in NBA, congratulations to Satnam Singh Bhamara!

Satnam Singh Bhamara just became the first Indian ever to be drafted in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The talented 19-year old hails from a remote village, Ballo Ke, in Punjab. The closest paved road from his house was 4 km away but that didn’t stop him from making his way into international glory. Towering at 7’2, Satnam was chosen by Dallas Maverick as the 52^nd pick in round two.

While the young blood’s talent is still raw, he does seem to have a bright future ahead of him which brings a lot of hope, pride and joy for India.

After being drafted, Satnam said “I feel good about it because in India there are a lot of players who could have a chance to come here and play in college and high schools. I think I can open the door for everyone to come here and play. So it’s good for India and all the players. It’s good for me and my country.”( source )

According to his coach Kenny Natt, “Everything Singh must improve is related to his athleticism, whereas he’s already acquired some hard-to-develop basketball skills. For a player with Singh’s background, that’s surprising. For a player with Singh’s physical attributes, that’s downright incredible. The upside is obvious and astounding.” ( source )

Satnam Singh is the son of a farmer, Balbir Singh Bhamara who is also 7’2 and has had an unrelenting passion for basketball. However, he could never fulfill his dreams as his parents insisted that he tended to their fields in Punjab. But Balbir didn’t take this opportunity away from his son, and encouraged Satnam to follow his dreams.

Back to the future is now the present, introducing the Lexus hoverboard!

The future is here! No we aren’t giving you fake news or hyping a hoax. The luxury car making company Lexus recently revealed a teaser of an actual performing hoverboard. The kind you envied Marty McFly riding. And guess what? It actually levitates!

While the Lexus hoverboard is still in its testing stage, it has reportedly given remarkable results.

A huge amount of effort has gone into making this dream a reality as the Executive vice president of Lexus International, Mark Templin elucidated that the company had been working on the project for the past 18 months.

With this right kind of innovation, instead of giving a slightly improved model of their products like most companies do, Lexus moved forward to give the world what it really demands: An actual working Hoverboard!

Sooooo how does this work again?

Well, the Lexus hoverboard currently called “Slide” uses magnetic levitation to achieve smooth hovering frictionless movement. Liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors along with permanent magnets allow the Lexus hoverboard to achieve the impossible.

The sole drawback is that it currently only works in a controlled environment where there is a metal layer underneath.

Say hello to your NEW friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, Tom Holland!

With change in times, comes a change in your superheroes. Sony Pictures and Marvel studio proudly present to you their new Spider-Man, Tom Holland. After an entire worldwide casting search, they chose Tom.

But who is Tom Holland?

Most of us haven’t even heard about this kid before. Who is he? Well, he isn’t a 100% unknown. He has had some impressive roles in The Impossible and Wolf Hall. Plus he’s performed the lead role brilliantly in Billy Elliot The Musical.

With his acrobat skills and good acting abilities, he has the potential to surpass the previous Spider-Man roles.

Furthermore Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures, said “We saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.”

We’ll also get to see the young teenager perform his role in a cameo appearance in the next Captain America movie The Civil War.

Here’s Kim Kardashian insta-telling you about her baby!

Kim Kardashian revealed the gender of her baby number two on Instagram on Sunday night with an adorable picture of Kanye reading a book with his daughter North.

The couple had known about the gender for quite a while now and wanted to keep it a secret from the public. The Keeping up with the Kardashian star and her rapper hubby said that would’ve been very happy with another baby girl but now they feel beyond blessed to be having a baby boy and are looking forward to seeing Kanye have a ‘mini-me’.

After sharing the news over Instagram, Kim also tweeted ‘You’re such a good daddy to North & you will be the best daddy to our new son too!’

Bihar’s super 30 boys’ success

Hard work does not always yield results, but these two kids have proved that there is no such thing as wasted effort. Raju and Brijesh Kumar Saroj, the two sons of a daily wager Dharamraj Saroj who works in a cloth mill factory in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh cracked the IIT-JEE.

Raju (18) and Brijesh (19) cleared the IIT Advanced examinations earlier this week. Raju secured 167th rank while his brother Brijesh stood 410th in the exam.

Brijesh Kumar was one of Anand Kumar’s Super 30 (the coaching institute) students. Their family faced many acute hardships, however, once at Super 30, he got the opportunity to concentrate on his studies without bothering about anything.

The news of their success spread quickly and before they knew it many famous faces & personalities came to congratulate and help them.

Human resource development minister Smriti Irani on Saturday waived the admission fees for the two brothers from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. “Informed family that registration fees will be waived off and will be eligible for scholarships that cover tuition, mess and other charges,” the minister posted on Twitter.

They have even gathered the admiration of Aamir Khan and Rahul Gandhi, among others. Anand Kumar, the teacher at super 30, feels it’s a great gesture that eminent personalities are taking so much interest in the success of students from underprivileged sections.
