  • How to cut your hair in long bob

How to cut your hair in long bob

Long bob, or lob, as it is commonly referred to, is the biggest hair trend right now. Neither long nor short but somewhat blunt and just above the shoulders, this haircut looks flattering for a variety of different face shapes, hair textures and complexions. In simple words, lob is a universal, classic and a very versatile haircut. So, if you are also somebody who would love to rock this chic haircut then grab a pair of scissors and learn how to cut your hair in long bob. With this step by step tutorial by PatryJordan, you can cut your hair in long bob and if you already have a bob cut, you can maintain your locks on your own.

#1 Start off by detangling your damp hair and part your hair as you normally do.

    gif1

#2 Tie your hair in a low ponytail with an elastic and slide it down a little bit. Make sure it’s tight and secure.

    gif2

#3 Tie another elastic tightly below the first one, slide it down and this will act as your guideline to cut the desired length of your hair.

    gif3

#4 Put your finger behind your ear and loosen up that section of your hair slightly. Now, carefully cut your hair across in a straight line. Work in little sections so you don’t end up cutting more hair than you want to.

    gif4

#5 Release your hair from the elastics, comb it thoroughly and bring them in front.

    gif5

#6 To finish it off, smooth your hair down and use your finger as a guide to cut a diagonal line. Keep doing this until your hair looks even.

    gif6

#7 Blow dry your hair and you’re done.

  • 5 heel hacks every girl should know

5 heel hacks every girl should know

Girls love shoes, especially heels and yes, they are worth the pain. Heels have the magical power to make women feel confident and dressy but not without a price. From blisters to paining feet, we simply accept the side effects of wearing heels. Girls, these heel hacks by Chriselle Lim are for you so you don’t have to suffer for style.

    brief

#1 Stretch your shoes by freezing

Fill a plastic bag with water and insert it into the toe box of your shoes. Put the shoes into the freezer overnight (yes, really). As the water freezes, the plastic bags will expand and stretch out your shoes.

    1

#2 Relieve tension with surgical tape/doctor tape

Tape your third and fourth toe together using medical tape. This helps take pressure off the ball of the foot. (Fact: There’s a nerve right between third and fourth toe and taping both of these toes together minimises strain.)

    2

    #3 Prevent slippage with sandpaper

New shoes, no traction? A simple trick for extra grip: Gently sand the soles of your new heels for better traction. We repeat, gently. Don’t end up scraping the red off the soles of your Louboutins.

    3

#4 Clear gel deodorant can help prevent blisters

Blisters are the worst and can make walking in heels impossible, prevent them by using gel deodorants. Rub a little bit of it on the back of your heels to prevent blisters. A little piece of advice: you may use lip balm as well if you don’t have gel deodorant.

    4

#5 Use foot cushions to reduce pain

Slip a pair of gel insoles into your high heels to maximise comfort. It makes a world of difference.

    5

  • How to reduce pigmentation with home remedies

How to reduce pigmentation with home remedies

Pigmentation, dark spots, freckles and uneven skin tone are a few problems that we all face. The reason behind these conditions is the excessive production of melanin on the surface of your skin. And the good news is that this can be treated at home. To learn how to treat pigmentation at home, one first needs to understand the causes of pigmentation. Here’s everything you need to know about pigmentation.

    reduce-pigmentation

    Source

    What is pigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation, usually called pigmentation, is a common skin condition where some areas or patches of skin turn darker in colour. People identify it as a skin problem but it is usually a harmless condition that occurs due to excessive presence of melanin; a brown-coloured pigment that produces our normal skin colour. Melanin is produced by melanocytes and functions as a shield for skin cells to protect the skin from sun and UV damages.

    What causes pigmentation?

The root cause of excessive melanin production is generally associated with internal factors like hormonal changes in the body, pregnancy and other health problems. External factors like excessive sun exposure, skin injury, burning, emotional stress or contact with certain chemicals can also cause pigmentation. It can occur on almost any part of the body including face, neck, hands, arms or legs.

    How to treat pigmentation?

Depending on the degree of pigmentation you may choose going for laser treatments by professional dermatologists/cosmetologists or try some home remedies to reduce pigmentation at home. Natural remedies are not only safe and inexpensive but have been known to give you positive and effective results. Try these easy DIY recipes to reduce pigmentation naturally and acquire a healthy glowing skin.

#1 Slice one potato into two, put a few drops of water on its surface and rub it on the pigmented area. If you have more time at hand, grate the potatoes and squeeze the juice out of it. Apply the juice on the age spots and leave it on for half an hour. Rinse with lukewarm water. Doing this home remedy for a month will bring noticeable difference to your pigmented skin.

#2 Grate a piece of papaya and extract the juice out of it. Apply it on the pigmented area, leave it for 15-20 minutes and rinse it off with cold water. Do this for a month and wait patiently till you see amazing results. The enzyme papain in papaya is used for skin exfoliation and helps regenerate new skin cells. This helps in removing the pigmented layers of skin every time you do an exfoliation and help reduce and finally remove the pigmented mark.

#3 Application of vinegar also helps in controlling pigmentation. Dilute vinegar with equal amount of water as it’s very strong and has acidic properties. To treat the pigmentation for your face, wash your face as you normally do and spritz this mixture on. Do not rinse it off. Vinegar has good astringent properties. Its acidity makes it a good exfoliator, removing the dead cells from the surface and revealing clear and beautiful skin within.

#4 Application of a mixture of castor oil and vitamin E on the areas of pigmentation every day is also a great remedy. This will slowly remove the pigmented area leaving your skin smooth and free of patches and blemishes. Vitamin E helps reviving the skin and castor oil acts as antiseptic to treat pigmentation.

#5 Aloe Vera works excellently on hyper-pigmented skin due to the presence of mucilaginous polysaccharides in the gel. It removes dead skin cells and promotes regeneration of new skin cells. Apply some fresh Aloe Vera gel on pigmented skin and leave it overnight. Rinse it off in the morning. Follow this remedy daily for a few weeks to get positive results.

#6 Cucumber is used for dark circles which is also a form of skin pigmentation. Mix one part each of cucumber juice, lemon juice and honey. Apply it evenly on the pigmented area, leave it for 30 minutes and rinse it off with room temperature water. These skin lightening agents when put together can surely work wonders in fading freckles and blemishes.

As the popular saying goes, “precaution is better than cure”, apply sunscreen lotion with SPF 30 or more daily whether you are at home or stepping outside and reapply it every 2 to 3 hours. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from UV rays which are emitted from sunlight or laptop screens.

  • 10 struggles of a single guy who’s entering into his 30’s!

10 struggles of a single guy who’s entering into his 30’s!

So your birthday is around the corner and like every year you’ve got some kickass plans to bring in your special day. Though we understand that with each passing year, your birthday has witnessed a gradual drift towards the non-cray side of life where most of your friends are married (or getting there) and rest of them just not totally up for the fun you’ve planned for your big day.

We feel you (unless your close friend circle comprises a majority of twenty-something hot-blooded pals).

But hey! You’re turning 30, you’re single, you have a nice job and goes without saying – you’re fabulous!

They say age is just a number and in your case, damn they’re right! However, there are a few struggles of a single guy who’s entering into his 30’s those are just unavoidable. That’s something nobody’s going to tell you. So here’s a list (that goes out for most of us single dudes out there).

    You may thank us later.

    1. The wedding galore

Well it’s true. Social media these days (for people like us) has become a mini wedding/honeymoon album. I mean, where did all those fun party check-in’s disappear? At times like these, tell yourself that you (by far) are the coolest person in your friend’s list and feel proud. And in case you spot a person cooler than you in the list, contact that person and catch-up!

    2. Those pesky relatives

We all have relatives who are annoying as f*ck. That little evil part of your extended family is never up to any good and let’s admit it, they will have their opinions about you (especially about the fact that you’re turning 30 and it’s time for you to settle down). Well, your only escape to such a situation is that you need to be ready with a kickass comeback at all times. If ignoring them doesn’t help, dig into their past roots and come up with something that’ll shut them up forever (evil laugh).

    3. Dearth of those ‘cool’ friends

The coolness quotient in most your friend deteriorates with time. You may (in some cases) realise that they’re not the same when it comes to going out and making it a night to remember. All those clubbing night-out’s that convert into pajama house parties eventually decrease in number the frequency of which is also affected due to family/personal issues. At that moment you realise, why hasn’t this change affected you? We’d suggest that you always have a Plan B handy, which could involve a date with yourself with wine and a nice movie!

    4. Talking about cool friends, now you sure know who your REAL friends are

That’s a part of growing up. As you grow older, you give your ‘close friends’ opportunities to prove themselves over time and let’s face it; most of them do end up disappointing you. It’s not their fault to be honest. With time, everyone’s priorities change and there are some things you just cannot avoid. But there will be a few nice ones that’ll make sure that they’re around no matter what. DO NOT lose them under any circumstances (even if they aren’t oh-so-cool anymore).

    5. The ‘forever alone’ hangouts with friends AND their SO’s

Imagine this: you’ve been invited over for dinner by your best friend and his wife. You show up and bam! You’re the only single guy at the table. All you have around you are couples narrating their annoying stories (which you’ve heard like 50 million times) and the worst part is – everybody’s drinking real slowly! A million dollar advice here for you my man – get drunk! Don’t bother who is judging you. Just make sure that you end up having a good time while making others laugh at your jokes. Be the star of the night!

    6. The perpetual third-wheeler

Again, every time you make a nice plan with one of your friends, while making it absolutely clear that ITS HIM ONLY who you want to meet, his plus one shows up. EVERYTIME! It’s like a package deal that comes with each one of your friends. Next thing you know, you’re the friggin third-wheeler there. Well, that’s something that cannot be avoided at any cost. You can’t simply tell your friends that you don’t want to hang out with their girlfriends, now can you?

    7. Your inability to party hard like the early 20’s

You’re almost 30 and you’ve come to an agreement with yourself that drinking like the early 20’s isn’t something you can afford anymore. Your hangovers hit you harder and your body becomes more sensitive to alcohol’s effects. But…but…but…don’t let that affect you. Yes, you may go slow and reduce its consumption as long as you reach that happy state! Well, think about it like this – you spend lesser money on alcohol now to reach that happy high unlike your early 20’s.

    8. The fear of actually dying alone coming true

That’s debatable! Some of us are just fine with life the way it is. On the other hand some of us get carried away by stupid norms and stereotypes of the society where everyone tells you to get married before it’s too late. Believe us, it is NEVER too late to find a partner! So, chuck that fear of dying alone out of your head unless you really want to (see a doctor if you do, we’d suggest).

    9. Hanging out with your other friends who’ve already made ‘other human beings’

Yeah yeah, we all have friends who got married in their early 20’s and are now raising their families while producing other human beings like it’s no one’s business. Clearly it isn’t our business either but to hangout with them and their tiny ones like all the time can get just a tad bit annoying. Like hello? How about some adult quality-beer-happening time together? There are baby sitters in this world you know!

    10. The moment you realise you’re no longer in your 20’s !

So what?!? You’re life isn’t over. You just grew a year older. Just tell yourself this – ‘It took you 30 awesome years to look this good, damn you!’. Compare yourself with your other pals you grew up around (we know that’s bad advice) but at the end of the day, whatever sails your boat me friend! Whatever sails your boat!

So, those were the 10 struggles of a single guy who’s entering into his 30’s! If you are one of them, we are with you. Happy Birthday and we hope you make it so big that turning 30 doesn't seem like a struggle to you anymore!

  • DIY: 30 second ponytail hack

    DIY: 30 second ponytail hack

Ladies, your lipstick will help you get a thicker ponytail… ughhh, actually the lid of your lipstick. Make your ponytail look thicker and perkier in just 30 seconds or less. Check out this simple DIY ponytail hack by YouTuber Kayley Melissa which works wonders for your hair.

This DIY ponytail hack helps you during those hectic and busy days when you choose to tie your hair in a ponytail and work throughout the day because this holds your ponytail all day long.

    How to do that?

Start by sweeping your hair into a ponytail at whatever height you like and secure it with a hair-tie.

Now, it’s time to use your magic weapon (okay, we know it’s just a lipstick lid).

    3

Split your hair in half, stick the lid into your ponytail and let your hair down. This will make your ponytail look wider and little bit bouncy at the same time. (*wink*)

    And, that’s it!

Few tips to keep in mind:

Make sure your hair-tie is loose enough to accommodate the width of the lipstick lid (or whatever you are sticking in your ponytail) because otherwise you will not be able to wedge it into your ponytail.

If you want to adjust your ponytail, make sure to hold the lid against your head while you do so because if you don’t, then the elastic might get underneath the lid and cause it to fall out.

This is optional but if you want to tie a piece of hair around the base of your ponytail, bobby pin it off to the side instead of pinning it underneath the elastic. This way the bobby pin would not get in the way of the lid and will hold the end of your hair in place.
