    Celeb sightings: Aamir Khan’s special screening for ‘Margarita With A Straw’

    Actor Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao hosted a special screening for Shonali Bose’s highly acclaimed movie ‘Margarita With A Straw’ recently in Mumbai. This Kalki Koechlin starrer is a coming-of-age film that revolves around the journey of a wheelchair user student Laila (played by Kalki) suffering from cerebral palsy.

    Known faces from B-town emerged in support of the movie including Shraddha Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Anurag Kashyap, Rajkumar Hirani, Dibakar Banerjee and more. Here are all the pictures.

    Detective Byomkesh Bakshy – Produced by Basu Chaterjee the movie circles around the adventures of actor Sushant Singh Rajput who plays the lead role of the famous detective Byomkesh Bakshy. Taking inspiration from the popular fictional character of Bengali literature, the movie sees the protagonist trying to avert the evil plans of the world’s most sinister arch criminal.     When it comes to big movie releases this month, Hollywood is taking the lead. That’s right, with only a couple of big Bollywood releases scheduled for March, your month ahead is going to be packed with some solid Hollywood movies. Take a look at these eleven films hitting the screens this month and what they are all about!

    1. Fifty Shades of Grey – 6th March

    First up is ‘Fifty shades of Grey’, the much awaited romantic flick based on British author E. L. James’ bestselling novel of the same name. The release was unfortunately (and expectedly) delayed in India due to censor board issues. But looks like 6th March will finally be the day of some steamy scenes in Indian theatres with Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).

    Run Time – 125 minutes.

    2. Focus – 6th March

    Releasing on the same day (after being rescheduled as well) is the American romantic dark comedy ‘Focus’ starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie as marvellous grifts who get romantically involved only to fall apart later. Things go awry when they meet again after three years realising that they are on the opposite sides in the same scam! What happens next? Find out on 6th March.

    Run Time – 104 minutes.

    3. Unfinished Business – 6th March

    Another comedy scheduled to hit the screens on the same day is ‘Unfinished Business’. Starring Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco and Sienna Miller; this Ken Scott directorial revolves around an adventurous journey of a businessman and his two associates through Europe and their bizarre encounters along this not-so-business-like trip.

    Run Time – 91 minutes.

    4. In The Heart of The Sea – 13th March

    Our favourite Thor is back in a new avatar with the biographical thriller ‘In The Heart of The Sea’. Starring Chris Hemsworth and Cillian Murphy, the movie’s plot dates back to the year 1820 when a New England whaling ship Essex is rammed by a mammoth-sized whale while leaving the ship’s surviving crew stranded in the middle of the sea. Things get worse with each passing day when the surviving crew is pushed to their limits to stay alive.

    Run Time – 121 minutes.

    5. Cinderella – 20th March

    Following Disney’s animated adaptation from the 50’s, ‘Cinderella’ hits the screens on 20th March. Starring Lily James as Cinderella, Hayley Atwell and Cate Blanchett, this British/American fantasy flick perfectly depicts the magical life of Cinderella with a few twists in good ol’ fairy tale fashion.

    6. The Divergent Series: Insurgent – 20th March

    The second installment of ‘Divergent trilogy’ a.k.a ‘Insurgent’ is scheduled to release on the same day. Following the events of the previous installment from the series, this sequel stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Octavia Spencer.

    7. The Gunman – 20th March

    Sean Penn starrer ‘The Gunman’ revolves around the story of a former Special Forces soldier and military contractor suffering from PTSD and looking to settle down with the love of his life. However, in order to achieve a stable life he must run across Europe to clear his name and deal with the events that unfold on the way. Based on Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel ‘The Prone Gunman’, this action-thriller is slated for release on 20th March.

    Run Time – 115 minutes.

    8. Tracers – 20th March

    Releasing on the same day is another action-thriller ‘Tracers’ starring the ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner along with Marie Avgeropoulos and Adam Rayner. Lautner plays the role of an NYC bike messenger struggling to make ends meet until he meets Avgeropoulos who helps him find his passion for parkour.

    Run Time – 93 minutes.

    9. Dragon Blade – 27th March

    Hong Kong action legend Jackie Chan is back with ‘Dragon Blade’ along with actors John Cusack and Adrien Brody. This historical action flick is based on the story a group of missing Roman soldiers who travelled to China in 48 BC.

    10. Get Hard – 27th March

    Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart starrer comedy ‘Get Hard’ is set to tickle your funny bone this March. When an innocent businessman (Ferrell) gets convicted for a crime, he decides to take help from the man who washes his car (Hart) to prep for a life behind bars.

    Run Time – 100 minutes.

    11. Home – 27th March

    If you get Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez in one big fat animated movie, there’s nothing else to do but to devour it with tonnes of popcorn and coke! The movie circles around the story of two very… umm… different friends – a human and an alien and their rib-cracking adventurous journey to discover the true meaning of the word called ‘Home’.

In lead roles are Mallika Sherawat, veteran actors Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff and Ashutosh Rana. As the name suggests, the movie is set against a contemporary political backdrop and is already making headlines for Mallika Sherawat and Om Puri’s steamy on-screen chemistry.     NH10 – 13th March, 2015
    Anushka Sharma’s debut production ‘NH10’ has her and actor Neil Bhoopalam as a part of the star cast. It is slated for a release on 13th March. This thriller is about a young couple’s rather disastrous rendezvous with a group of violent criminals while they are on a road trip.

    Hunterrr – 20th March, 2015
    Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag Kashyap and Vikas Bahl’s sex comedy ‘Hunterrr’ will be out on 20th March. Starring Gulshan Devaiah, Radhika Apte and Sai Tamhankar, this movie revolves around the life of a lecherous sex addict and his encounters with women. However, the story takes a turn when one of the professionals dies in an accident and is brought back with the help of the same serum used on a human for the first time!     The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – 27th February

    The sequel to the British comedy-drama is finally here! ‘The Second best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ features the same ensemble cast as the first movie adding Richard Gere to the bandwagon. Personally, we’d recommend everyone to watch this one since it’s rare to find cheerful humour perfectly mixed with touching emotions in a totally cute movie!

This movie revolves around the lives of two artists, a mute actor (played by Dhanush) and an alcoholic (played by Amitabh Bachchan).     Roy – 13th February

    Plan your movie calendar for January: Bollywood

    Bollywood has a whole lot of movies set to entertain you throughout the month of January. Forget your post-New Year’s eve blues and let yourself be enthralled by the likes of ‘Tevar’, ‘Alone’, ‘Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene’, ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, ‘Baby’ and ‘Hawaizaada’. Read on to find out all about them…

    Releasing on 9th January is ‘Tevar’, starring Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles. This action, romance and thriller, all rolled into a single package, is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster ‘Okkadu’.

    Marking the Bollywood debut of television heartthrob Karan Singh Grover is ‘Alone’ which releases on 16th January. The movie is already creating waves because of Bipasha Basu and Grover’s steamy on-screen chemistry but this horror flick is set to scare the living daylights out of you, quite literally.

    Gurmmeet Singh’s ‘Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene’ starring Zayed Khan, Rannvijay Singh and Tena Desae in lead roles is also set to hit screens on 16th January. This comedy-thriller revolves around an honest, common man’s life choices and his simple desire to protect himself and his loved ones.

    Releasing on the Republic Day weekend (23rd January) is the much-awaited ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ featuring Sonam Kapoor in the lead along with co-stars Pulkit Samrat, Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma. Kapoor plays the role of a shrewd runaway bride who gets married to different men only to escape with all their wealth.

    Also releasing on the same day is the muti-starrer ‘Baby’ starring Akshay Kumar, Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Taapsee Pannu, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Madhurima Tuli. The movie revolves around the operations of a counter-intelligence unit set to fight terrorism.

    At the end of the month, you have Mithun Chakraborty-starrer ‘Hawaizaada’ to look forward to. With Ayushmann Khurrana and Pallavi Sharda also in leading roles, the film projects the events from the life of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade. Talpade is believed to be the first scientist to invent a flying machine, even ahead of the Wright brothers. The movie will be out on January 30.
