“Thanks my nigga” – Here’s what Shahid Afridi DID NOT intend to say!

Shahid Afridi accidentally gave us something to laugh about at a recent match interview and it sounded a little ….erm…racist in the end! That’s right, the Pakistani cricketer who probably wanted to say ‘ Thanks Mark Nicholas’ while speaking to the English cricket commentator ended up saying something that sounded more like ‘Thanks my Nigga’….wait what? Yes, this one has been making rounds on the internet since the interview! Take a look.

  • “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as synthetic” – Sir Elton John boycotts fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana

“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as synthetic” – Sir Elton John boycotts fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana

British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John expressed his outrage towards the fashion brand ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ last Sunday for making remarks against same-sex marriage and gay adoptions in an interview with the Italian fashion magazine ‘Panorama’.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbano, the founder-duo of the famous Italian brand quoted that the children who aren’t born into traditional families are “children of chemistry”. Here’s what they stated in the 12th March, 2015 issue of the Italian magazine ‘Panorama’ – “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow; there are things that should not be changed.”

    dolce-gabbana-elton-john.4

To which the furious songwriter/legend responded by saying “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic.” And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF — a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children.

Here’s a screen shot of Sir Elton John’s Instagram from last week that further elucidates his anger and his decision to boycott Dolce & Gabbana with the hashtag #BoycottDolceGabbana.

The only thing that baffles us is the fact that the duo once appeared in a 2005 edition of ‘Vanity Fair’ magazine posing for a ‘Family photograph’ with kids.

  • 7 illustrations that tell you why startups are the coolest places to work at!

7 illustrations that tell you why startups are the coolest places to work at!

We understand that a multinational corporate pays a lot more than a startup, particularly to freshers, and the swanky job also comes with a lot of cushy benefits. Working at a startup probably means that you work with a small team… most likely just a handful of people. That BTW has its own benefits, especially for the creative junkies out there. Don’t believe us? Take a look at these seven illustrations by the WittyFeed below to see why startups are the coolest places to start your career at.

    1) We have ‘No-shave November’ almost every month. You really do not need a haircut or need to shave everyday if you work at a startup. We just care about the work and also we are used to you looking like this.

    1

    2) On-the-job-sleeping, beanbags and comfy sofas is what a startup offers as cushy benefits. There is everything you need to rest your bum on after lunch and work. And yes if you sleep, there will be a bunch of pictures haunting your social networks. Did we mention funny pictures?

    2
    3) Formals?!? – Just wear whatever you want, from sneakers to slippers. Formals are only needed when there is a rare meeting with the outside world. So feel free to shop and fill your wardrobes with the coolest, most colourful clothes, because everything is just… well… cool!

    3
    4) Team meetings are referred to as group chats. We don’t believe in sitting formally on the table and discussing plans. Meetings start with a casual discussion on the sofa with a cup of coffee and end pretty much the same way.

    4

    5) Nocturnal forever! When everyone is heading home in the evening, we get up and go to work. Flexible work timings and a lot of ‘work from home’ days is just what startups are all about.

    5

    6) We are loud and very proud. Play some music, converse across the table, work, sleep, repeat.

PS – Parties are not a daily affair, but when we do have one, people envy us. If you know what we mean!

    6

    7) Skills over Degrees. Startups look for people who have skills and are creative. Degrees always do not come handy when you want to move out and explore life. So, if you are creative and want to really utilise your innate talents while having some fun, go and join a startup today.

  • 3 concealers available in India that you must try!

3 concealers available in India that you must try!

There are very few women in this world who don’t have a concealer in their makeup bags. With growing awareness and availability of makeup products, the concealer has made a special place for itself in vanity kits and rightly so. Concealers help in hiding blemishes, covering dark under-eye areas and evening out skin tones. They can also be used as a base for your eye shadows and lip colours. If you still don’t have a concealer, here are 3 superb products available in India that you must try!

    While using a concealer you need to keep the following points in mind;
    a) Always apply concealer right after the primer and before the foundation
    b) If the concealer is not blended properly, it will not stay for very long so blend, blend and blend away
    c) Set your concealer using a loose powder to keep it in place for longer
    d) While choosing a concealer, go for a colour that is one shade lighter than your foundation, not your skin colour. A lighter concealer shade works on hiding blemishes better and the foundation will eventually match it to your natural skin tone.

    #1 MAC Studio Finish Concealer

This concealer can classify as slightly creamy and comes in a small pot which is sure to last you for at least six months (if used daily). It’s perfect for acne-prone skin, provides medium-full coverage and comes in a variety of shades. If you walk into a MAC store, they’ll help you with the perfect colour for your skin type. Use it with a brush (preferably) and dab it on to your blemishes and under-eye area first and then start blending it. This product needs a little more blending than usual but if applied correctly it easily lasts for six-eight hours. It is thick in consistency which does mean more blending but also makes it ideal for people who don’t like using a foundation.

#2 Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer

This is a liquid concealer with light-medium coverage, great for people struggling with uneven skin-tone and light blemishes. The concealer is easy to apply because of its packaging. It comes in a tube with a slanted tip. Just apply two small triangles around the cheek bones and blend in with your fingers. Use the extra product left on your fingers on the forehead and the chin area, if needed. Apply foundation evenly after this step and set both with loose powder to make it last for six hours easily. It doesn’t cake, flake or settle into fine lines and smells great because it is made of natural food extracts.

#3 Revlon PhotoReady Concealer SPF 20

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer comes in the form of a stick and stick concealers are best suited to cover under-eye dark circles. This concealer provides light coverage and is a little shimmery, best for evening wear. It works very well for dry skin and needs to be applied along with a moisturizer because of its thick and dry texture. Moisturise your face first and then apply the product on to blemishes and in the under-eye area. Blend with your fingers or with a brush and follow this step with some loose powder. This product stays on for four-six hours, comes with SPF 20 for sun-protection and is light on the pocket. However, it is not recommended for people with problem skin.

  • Feeling sleepy at work? Here’s what all you should do!

Feeling sleepy at work? Here’s what all you should do!

Admit it, we all go through a point once (or maybe 7 times for some people) every week when we just can’t keep our eyes open, especially in front of the laptop. It’s normal to feel sleepy, but sh*t gets serious during those 8 hours in the day when you’re at work. You don’t realise that your boss sneaked up on you while your eyelids were on the verge of touching each other! If that happens with you…believe us…we feel you. Imagine, like right now maybe…just MAYBE this post was written by somebody who is going through the same pain but guess what?  Here are a few things that might work for you to get rid of that sleepiness incase taking a nap at work isn’t a viable option!

    1. Watch cat videos

There’s nothing more amusing than watching cats do random stuff with humans. This might just tickle your funny bone causing a reflex reaction travelling through your brain to your eyes, making them open a little wider.

     1

    2. Take a walk and trouble your colleagues

We know this one sounds like a tough task. Especially while preparing yourself mentally to get up from that perfect lazy workstation-posture and moving your muscles. But always remember, you have to be strong and there’s nothing in this world you can’t do. NOTHING!

     2

    3. Listen to pumped up music

Put those earphones on and torture yourself with loud music. The kind of loud music that annoys the cr*p out of you will do just fine!

     3

    4. Online shopping

Reward yourself for getting through this sleepy day. A gift to yourself from you. Nuff said.

     4

    5. Pull both your eyelids apart with the help of your thumb and your index finger

This hack is like social service for your other sleepy colleagues at work. They’re going to catch you doing this to yourself and have a good laugh which in turn will make you laugh. See it’s all relative!

     5

    6. Go and sit in the washroom for a while and play Candy Crush saga

Procrastination is the key. Go to the best place in your office (as long as it’s clean and doesn’t stink). Take your phone out, play a game or just tweet about your despair as long as your boss isn’t following you on Twitter!

    6

    7. Think about your life and where you’re headed

Well that would be something that’ll surely turn those ‘half shut eyes’ into a Grand Canyon. There’s nothing more startling than thinking about where one is headed. Perhaps it’ll be a good motivation for you to wake wide up and start performing better at work.

     7

    8. Take the rest of the day off

If nothing works, go home and sleep. There’s no force in this world that can help you other than resorting to the last resort. Sleep your heart out and make the next day worth it!

  • “Sorry, Rape was my fault” – The Bad Girl

“Sorry, Rape was my fault” – The Bad Girl

Unfortunately our society has started classifying ‘Rape’ as a shameful act instead of completely condemning it. ‘India’s daughter’ the much-talked-about documentary produced by BBC, gave a clear insight in to what happened on that dark night of 16th December, 2012 with Jyoti Singh, a victim of the most brutal gang rape. The documentary did not only shock us with the remorseless attitude of Mukesh Singh, one of the main accused, but also highlighted the unforgivably patriarchal attitude of the defense lawyers.

Following the previous series of pictures designed by the students of Srishti College of Art, Design and Technology as a part of their project titled, “Bad Girl” is another depiction based on the original theme created by the folks at The Quint

This is an open letter to the ‘Rapist Association of India’ that comprises ignorant and oblivious sons, brothers & fathers in the nation, in response to the comments that our not-so-beloved ‘Mukesh Singh ji’ made on ‘India’s Daughter’.

Zoolander fanatics have been eagerly waiting for 14 years for a sequel and the duo gave them a little taste of what to expect from ‘Zoolander 2’ at the Paris Fashion Week. They were dressed in printed suits and coats over their shoulders which they very fashionably threw away giving the ‘blue-steel’ impression on the runway in the French capital.
