  • Six reasons that make Pushkar the perfect weekend getaway

Six reasons that make Pushkar the perfect weekend getaway

Pushkar, also known as “The Lotus Flower”, is a 2000 years old city in India making it one of the oldest cities of the country. Mostly known for being one of the five sacred pilgrimage sites of Hindu devotees, Pushkar is a perfect getaway destination, not just for people from India but also from outside.

Pushkar is a small town near Ajmer in Rajasthan and the best part about the city is that it has no railway stations. To get to Pushkar, you need to cross Ajmer city and the drive to Pushkar is magnificent. Pushkar is one of those cities that has retained its cultural charm by all means and has a lot to offer. Take a look at this list of places to visit in Pushkar and you’ll know what we are talking about.

    1) The Brahma Temple

Pushkar is known to house the only Brahma temple in the world making it a very important pilgrimage spot for many Hindus/Brahma devotees. It is believed that Lord Brahma dropped a lotus flower in a lake (the Pushkar Lake) and the lake turned into a city, the Pushkar city.

    2) The largest Camel Fair in the world

Pushkar hosts the largest camel fair in the world in the month of Novemeber. This fair witnesses the presence of almost 50,000 camels with many of camel farmers, gypsies and musicians from deeper regions of Rajasthan and more than 200,000 global travellers. This is one the largest exchanges of livestock in the world and makes for the best time to visit the city to experience the best its culture has to offer.

    3) Halwai Gali, rooftop restaurants and the “special” lassi

In spite of being a small and deserted town, Pushkar offers a variety of vegetarian food that can beat many non-vegetarian cuisines. The town refrains from offering alcoholic beverages but serves a rather rare substitute for alcohol called the special lassi (a term for bhang lassi). From the many places to visit in Pushkar, you must go to the “Halwai Gali” and try the malpuha and gulkand it has to offer. Pushkar also has over 250 hotels and many rooftop restaurants to get the perfect view of the city and the ghats.

    4) Desert Safari

Another one of the many things to do and places to visit in Pushkar is the desert safari. A large part of Rajasthan is covered in the Thar Desert and Pushkar is a part of it. It is also popularly referred to as the first desert city of Thar. On your visit to Pushkar, you must go for the Desert Safari that is normally 24-36 hours long. Along with the sand dunes, you’ll come across many local villages and their traditions especially rural weddings that have the charm to sweep you off your feet.

    5) The Pushkar Lake

The Pushkar Lake is surrounded by 350 temples and 52 Ghats and offers you a chance to witness an infinite number of ritual offerings every day. If you’re a fan of watching sunsets, head to the ghats to enjoy a lake-view sunset along with the sound of the soothing evening aarti (prayer).

    6) The Ajmer Sharif

Just like the Brahma Temple, The Ajmer Sharif is a prime religious place for the Muslim community. It is the shrine of the famous Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti and is located 40 kilometers from Pushkar in the Ajmer City. If you visit Pushkar, there is no reason for you to not visit The Ajmer Sharif.

Moinuddin Chishti is worshipped for spreading a simple yet powerful message that there is no God; ” One call him Allah another call him God, but they’re one and only one”.

The most fascinating part of The Ajmer Sharif is the fact that both Hindu and Islamic devotees seek blessings at this religious place and it reflects the diversity that India holds.

  • Five reasons why every man should use beard smoother / oil!

Five reasons why every man should use beard smoother / oil!

Even if its not very apparent, we men are also concerned about how we show up in public. Of course, it depends on our mood too but there are some things that have to, we repeat, HAVE TO be on point. Let’s put it straight, our beard is on top priority (for the most of us) and there’s no questioning that. Hair can be managed, if it’s messy, you can always say you’re trying out the ‘out of bed’ look. So you can simply lie and get out of the situation. But, when it comes to our beard and if we get some negative comments about it, we are taking it personally and you’re going down.

To avoid that and because we love our beard, we choose to take care of it. Thankfully, we men don’t have to indulge in any kind of intense grooming session for that. A beard smoother is all we need and we’re good to go.

Fellow men, here are the reasons why every man should use a beard smoother / oil! GO!

#1 Your beard is smoother, shinier and you’re sexier.

Let’s take a minute and thank the lord for your good ol’ beautiful beard. Be happy that you have one, some men aren’t that lucky but you are. Embrace it. A beard oil/ smoother helps you in keeping your beard shiny and smooth. And *poof* look at you, you sexy beast!

reasons why every man should use beard smoother / oil

    Source

#2 Beard is healthy and you are happy.

A healthy beard is the key to happiness for a man. Food and big biceps do make us happy too but the sense of satisfaction our beards give us is completely irreplaceable! Beard oil makes your facial hair healthier and with that it also is a good product for your skin.  Yeah, that makes you smile.

reasons why every man should use beard smoother / oil

#3 It smells nice and with that so does your face! *grin*

Your beard smells freaking great (basically, your face smells great). But that doesn’t mean you don’t brush your teeth? Don’t be that guy!

reasons why every man should use beard smoother / oil

    Source

#4 Beards are absolute head turners!

Let’s be honest here, men don’t have much to make the heads turn like women do (if you know what we’re talking about). They too are beautiful creatures. All we men have is a beard that we can flaunt around. That’s our weapon to woo women and make other men stare at our beards and come on, we love that! Now, you know what beard oil is capable of?

reasons why every man should use beard smoother / oil

    Source

    #5 It reduces the itchiness!

OH, PRAISE THE LORD! Every man that has got beard issues with the itchiness and it’s just a matter of time to get used to it, but why would you want that when you can use a damn product and get rid of it? Okay, we do admit we love running our hands through our beard and it’s even better when a woman wants to do that. Yeah! *winks while running hand through the beard*

  • Outfit of the week

    Outfit of the week

Even though its fall, the weather is just not cold enough to be wrapped up in thermals and jackets. In such a scenario, your summer ensembles might come in handy, regardless of the season.

If you’re still confused about the style quotient to follow this week our outfit of the week might serve as the perfect inspiration to you. Look chic and stylish this week by pairing a shirt with a midi skirt. Midi skirts have been in fashion for a while and the best part about them is their versatility that caters to both casual and formal wear.

Midi skirts are available in different patterns and lengths, but we would suggest you to go for a striped or a plain midi skirt teamed with a subtle shade of pink or white on the top.

You can complete this semi-formal look with a trench coat to avoid windy evenings and a pair of high heels. Accessorise your look with an elegant neck piece and minimal make up using different shades of brown and bronze to set the winter mood and step out looking like a runway model.

  • Foil face masks are the latest skincare thing on the block. Find out all about it here.

Foil face masks are the latest skincare thing on the block. Find out all about it here.

Sheet masks have been the biggest celeb skincare trend of 2015. Not only are they perfect for the time-starved women, they make your skin look like it was pampered and nurtured for hours in turn making you feel great. But but BUT, like every trend, sheet masks also have a successor. Make way for FOIL MASKS. Yes, they are a thing now.

Foil masks have been making headlines and how, all thanks to the beauty brand Estee Lauder. The foil masks have been designed to give results even faster than the cotton/sheet masks.

Allow us to walk you through this incredible innovation. Foil face mask contains a metallic exterior and dual-matrix sheet that are dipped in anti-aging ingredients like hyaluronic acid. These ingredients  penetrate deep into the skin and transmit a warm sensation enabling your skin to be at its comfortable best, whereas the metallic exterior gives you a more concentrated dose of active ingredients that boost your natural repair cycles faster than any other cotton mask available in the market.

    Estee lauder- Inp img2

The foil mask is advised to be worn for ten minutes at dusk as our skin has a tendency toregenerate while we catch that sleep. The foil mask has been made thoughtfully using anti-pollution technologies and anti-irritants like milk thistle, birch extract and magnolia bark extracts that prevent irritation and give faster results due to the foil-backed sheet that only lets the goodness of this mask flow in one direction; towards your skin.

    Estee lauder- Inp img3

The outer layer of the mask has a silver coating that acts as a shield, preventing the formula from escaping. The thing we like about the foil mask is that they come in two parts which permits you to wear the bottom part first and then do the top.

  • Unusual ways to spend your time online

Unusual ways to spend your time online

In recent years the internet has seen usage like never before, with more and more people getting online each year. In fact, a recent UN survey suggested more than three billion people across the world now have internet access.

It stands to reason if you’re reading this then the internet is probably a big part of your everyday life, whether you use it for work or leisure, or even just for staying in touch with family and friends.

But are you making the most of your time online? Many people do not take advantage of the full array of sites on offer, sticking to comfort zones such as Twitter or Facebook.

So, with this in mind, we have put together a list of ways you can maximise your time online. Some are interesting, some are just silly, but they’re all worth a look.

    #1 Egosurf

More commonly known as ‘Googling yourself’. Type your name into Google and everybody’s favourite search engine will instantly bring up a list of everything related to your name. Sure, it might not be all about you, but it’s always fun to see what the other John Smith of Sydney, Australia is doing lately.

    #2 Learn how to cook/bake

Cooking and baking has always had a home online but recently it has seen a surge in popularity thanks to social media apps like Snapchat, and YouTube, with channels like Sorted Food and Tastemade gathering a huge following. So, instead of just talking about that moussaka you want to make, go ahead and do it!

    #3 Research your genealogy

You’ve always talked about finding out if you’re related to royalty, and now the internet has made it easier than ever, with sites like Ancestry.co.uk and FindMyPast just a click away.

    #4 Place a bet

Thanks to the internet and smartphone apps, online betting is easier than it has ever been. Whatever your game is, whether it be football, tennis or horse racing, you can try your luck at any number of online bookmakers, with many even offering an introductory free bet.

    #5 Test your emotional intelligence

Emotional intelligence is your capacity to be aware of, control, and express your emotions, as well as how empathetic you are in friendships and relationships. It may not be something you have thought about before, but it’s certainly an interesting thing to discover, and it’s easy to do with this free quiz.

#6 Find out the Bacon number of your favourite celebrity

This one may fall into the ‘silly’ category, but it’s still a novel little hidden feature of Google. A play on the idea of six degrees of separation, or the idea everyone in the world is connected by no more than six acquaintances or links, a celebrity’s Bacon number indicates how many degrees they are from actor Kevin Bacon.

For example, Brad Pitt and Kevin Bacon appeared in the movie Sleepers, which makes Brad’s number 1. To find out, simply google the celebrity’s name followed by ‘Bacon number’. Pointless, but fun!

  • All you need to know about gilet jackets and ways to style them!

All you need to know about gilet jackets and ways to style them!

    What is a gilet?

A gilet is essentially a sleeveless jacket that might look like a cross between a waistcoat and a blouse. Historically, they were designed fitted and had intricate embroidery but with changing times they have evolved into more boxy and casual silhouettes. Gilets don’t have a fixed length, they could be waist-length or knee-length depending on your styling options. What’s important though is that gilets make for the outermost layer of a winter outfit; it’s very difficult to wear another layer over a gilet.

    Gilet- Inp img1

The good news about this latest fall trend is that this urban chic is available in a variety of fabrics and styles, so we urge you to get creative with how you wear it. Fashion gilets are normally made up of faux fur, knitted cloth or quilted fabric, and provide you with extra warmth on those chilly winter days.

You may also throw on a lighter version of a gilet over your summer dress when the weather gets a bit warm. If formal dressing is your preference, go for a straight gilet with clean cuts.

Before we help you with some style tips on how to style your gilets, here’s a fun fact: gilets originated in the 19th century as a dress-bodice shaped like a man’s waistcoat. How’s that for a throwback?

Here’s how you should style them?

Layer it over a summer dress and add some accessories. Solid colours work best but we’d suggest you avoid prints.

We exchange visiting cards on daily basis, but only a few of us are able to keep our visiting cards properly organised. We would suggest a card holder as an easy gift that is also relevant to both genders.

Nothing says winter better than scarves. We have seen various kinds of scarves but this season blanket scarves steal the show. Yes, these oversized blanket scarves with subtle patterns are something you must own this fall. The best part about owning oversized blanket scarves is that they can be worn with countless outfits and provide that perfectly fashionable layer to your chic cardigans, leather jackets and coats. • Kimoji by Kim Kardashian broke the Apple store yesterday! Here’s what took the app store down!

Kimoji by Kim Kardashian broke the Apple store yesterday! Here’s what took the app store down!

Kim Kardashian knows how to be in the eyes of everyone, be it the haters or the fans that go gaga over her (for a reason that is still unknown to humanity). Anyway, the crux here is, Kimmie came up with an app called, ‘Kimoji’, now you and I don’t really have to put our brains to it to understand what it is about.  But for the Einstein(s) out there, the app is basically in simple words umm Kim+Emojis = Kimojis! The app is all about Kim (of course, who else would it be about?) and provides you access to ‘kimojis’ that appear to be her and doing the things she does.  We’re not sure if we find them funny or interesting enough but there has to be something about the app if the Apple app store crashed. We are still wondering what is it that Kim has that is broke the internet in the first place or made her a celeb (any guesses?)

The author of ‘Selfish’ was happy to share the news through twitter as she posted a few pictures as she used the app.

You’ll get a dose of Kim’s butt, her famous crying face, the middle finger emoji and many more.

The app costs $1.99 and gives you 250+ emojis and stickers exclusively. Safe to assume these emojis are all typical of Kim Kardashian’s actions and memes too. Let’s just say, the app store was ‘LIT!’ (You’ll get the reference later!)
