  • How to make your face look thinner

How to make your face look thinner

Not all of us were lucky enough to be born with the facial structure of a super model which is why we often wonder about ways to make our face look thinner. The illusion of a thinner face makes one look younger and fit but it doesn’t necessarily mean that if you don’t have a thin face you’re not fit. For people like me, who were not blessed with a thin face here are tips that will help you make your face look thinner than it is.

    1) Layered haircut

Get the right haircut for your facial shape and features. The way that your hair frames your face can change the appearance of its contours. Go for a long, layered cut which extends past your cheekbones.

    layers

Tip: Avoid blunt bangs and chin-length bobs; the horizontal hair ends can make your face seem wider.

    2) Side parting

Part your hair down the sides; this will let your cheekbones stand out, emphasising the natural planes of your face. This hair styling technique works for all face shapes, but it is especially effective for the heart-shaped face which can look rounder with a centre parting.

    sidePart

    3) Highlighting

Go for subtle highlighting. Highlights that are expertly done draw the eye along the length of the hair, calling attention to the vertical line.

    highlight

    4) Add volume

Style some volume into your hair. A stick-straight hairstyle leaves little room for disguising the true width of your face, whereas romantic curls and wispy angle-cut bangs soften up the outline of the face. More volume in your hair makes your face look smaller and more delicate.

    5) Top knot

Top knots add length to the face and brings attention upward. It makes your face appear longer and creates a slimming effect for your face. The extra height also acts as an add-on to your personality. (BONUS)

    6) Back combing

Back combing, also known as teasing, is a great way to add volume to the crown area of your head as it adds an extra inch. A slight teasing adds height on top of your hair and elongates your face.

  • Reverse hair washing is the right way of washing your hair

Reverse hair washing is the right way of washing your hair

All of you might have heard about washing your hair twice or thrice a week but are you really washing your hair the right way? Did you just say YES…? We are not sure, if you’re using your conditioner after your shampoo, you’ve been doing it wrong all along.

    reverse hair washing

    Source

Regardless of the products you use, most of you have been taught to wash your hair the usual way starting with shampoo and finishing with conditioner. But now it’s time for you to reverse your steps because this is what reverse hair washing is all about wherein you use the conditioner first and then the shampoo.

It sounds a bit weird because the point of using the conditioner towards the end is to CONDITION your hair but actually, reverse hair washing works, especially if you’ve got fine hair. Conditioning before you shampoo your hair is a great way to add nourishment to thin hair. It primes the hair before cleansing and allows the shampoo to distribute evenly.

    Reverse Hair Washing: Steps

    1. Wet your hair with water and make sure your hair is fully drenched. If your hair isn’t totally saturated with water, it will be difficult for you to distribute any product.

    2. Now, apply the conditioner allover your hair, starting from the roots to the tips and leave it in for a fair amount of time, say 10 minutes. But, but, but… DO NOT RINSE (If you rinse your conditioner out and then apply shampoo, you will end up with dry and frizzy hair).

    3. Use the shampoo to remove your conditioner so that there is no residue. Rinse with cold water and you’re done.

Reverse hair washing technique gives your hair all the moisturising benefits of using a conditioner and you’re not left with brittle and messy hair. Basically the theory is that using thicker and heavier conditioner after the shampoo can leave your hair feeling and looking weighed down with residue, so using it first and then using shampoo leaves each strand looking fuller and strong.

  • Hair hacks every girl should know

Hair hacks every girl should know

The toughest part about getting ready in the morning is not always getting the right clothes; it’s getting the right hair. And everyone has those hurried morning when hair styling takes a back seat because the alarm didn’t go off or you decided to sleep in for those extra 20 minutes. For those dreaded days, we have got you these easy simple yet affordable hair hacks that can make one go from drab to fab in less than 10 minutes.

    1. Dry Shampoo

We don’t always get time to wash and dry our hair in the mornings and the horror of having an oily and greasy scalp in public has given nightmares to many. To avoid that situation, just sprinkle some dry shampoo on to your roots and along the base of your hair and it will help in absorbing all the oil from your scalp giving your hair a more polished and fresh look. But the key to using dry shampoo is to use it before your head hits the pillow at night. The dry shampoo will do its magic overnight, resulting in healthy looking hair in the morning.

Tip: If you don’t have dry shampoo, you can also use baby powder to solve the purpose.

    hair hacks

    2. Tame down the frizz with the colour brush

If you are ready to go out with your hair tied in a bun or a braid but those flyways are bothering you then this hack is all you need. Tame down that frizz with the help of a colour brush and hairspray. Spray just enough hairspray to cover the bristles of the colour brush and run it over those stubborn flyaway strands to tame it down (after you are done with your hairdo). This will hold your hair in place for quite a long time.

Tip: You can use an old toothbrush if you don’t have a colour brush.

    hair hacks

    3. Spin pins

Sometimes using too many bobby pins becomes very painful but you can swap them with *drum rolls in the background* spin pins. If you haven’t heard of spin pins, you are missing out. They are sort of twisted bobby pins and have extra grip which helps in holding your hair in place. So, instead of using 20 bobby pins use 2 to 3 spin pins and keep your hair intact. Throw your hair up in a bun, spin the pin to your hair and you are good to go.

    hair hacks

    4. Ponytail curls

Curling those long tresses takes a lot of time but if you have invested energy and efforts in your makeup and preparing your outfit, you definitely would not want to compromise with your hair. Would you ? Don’t waste time on thinking, we have got a solution for you. Now you can curl your hair and that too in 5 minutes. Pull all your hair up in a very high ponytail (exactly on top of your head) and taking small sections, wrap them around the curling iron. Once you’re done curling all the sections, untie your hair and spray some hairspray. This is a quick method to curl your hair and you can also make sure that you don’t miss out any strands of hair uncurled.

    hair hacks

    5. Headband hairdo

It is very difficult to manage freshly washed hair, but here’s a hair hack that’s sure to help you. All you need is a headband. Grab the headband, wrap all your hair through it and you have a really pretty headband hairstyle. It might look like you have spent a lot of time doing this hairdo but in reality it only takes one minute. This is a really fun way to accessorise your updo with a colourful headband and also keep your hair out of your face.

    hair hacks

    6. Messy bun

The safest and quickest hair hack when you’re running short of time is to tie your hair in a messy bun. There is no particular way of doing a messy bun and there are no steps to follow to achieve that look. Basically, you just have to mess up the bun and fix those loose locks with few bobby pins.
