  • 4 tips that’ll help you keep back acne at bay!

4 tips that’ll help you keep back acne at bay!

Back acne is the worst kind of acne to deal with not just because it is an unreachable area of the body but also because treating it is a pain. And people with the cleanest facial skin may also get back acne. In fact, this phenomenon now has a name, bacne! And bacne can be summer’s biggest enemy.

While during winters we can still cover up our backs with all the layers, why should one shy from flaunting a little skin on a bright summer day?

If you’ve dealt with this beast, we feel what you’ve been through. Here are a few tips that will help you keep back acne away. The most important thing is to remember that your back and facial skin is NOT the same. So do not expect to treat both acnes the same way. Take a look at these treatments for back acne.

    acne-tips-whats-trend

#1 Invest in a long-handled body brush or loofah

While it’s not advised to strongly exfoliate skin on your face especially if you have acne, it’s recommended otherwise for your back. Your back doesn’t get cleaned as often as your face does. It just gets cleaned maybe once or twice a day. The sweat, oil and body lotion gets accumulated in the pores and it needs a good buff every once in a while. So it’ll be wise to invest in a long handled loofah/brush for your back and clean your back with it whenever you get a chance.

#2 Use body acne-treating products not facial-acne treating products

Treat your bacne with products that are meant for your body, not your face. Try body washes with salicylic acid and exfoliating elements. Do not use your face wash, or a subtle eye cream to treat your back. The pores on your back skin are much bigger than the ones on your face and body products are designed to treat them accordingly.

    #3 Home remedies

If you have mild bacne, you may find some home remedies useful in getting rid of it. The most recommended home treatment for acne is Apple Cider Vinegar. Mix four parts of vinegar with four parts of water in a spray container and use it on your back everyday for two to three weeks. Apple cider vinegar kills the infection-causing bacteria and stops the acne from increasing.

#4 If nothing works, see a doctor

The key to getting rid of any infections is to keep the bacteria away from it but if nothing works, you must seek professional advice. See a doctor and let him/her diagnose the condition if it is acute. They’ll prescribe some medication that will help you achieve that sexy back for summer.

  • The ultimate guide to Korean beauty regimen

The ultimate guide to Korean beauty regimen

Koreans are famous for their porcelain, clean skin and their skincare routine is no monkey business. It is impossible to find any Korean woman who does not have flawless and hauntingly beautiful skin. So how do Koreans get such amazing skin? Or are they just too blessed to be stressed about any skin imperfections? Well the answer lies in the hardcore Korean beauty regimen.

While for most of us, a regular skin care regime is only limited to cleansing, toning and moisturising; the Korean beauty regimen is a multi-step, time-consuming process that they swear by and start at an early age.

Korean women are all about layering and have mastered the art of layering. And that is exactly how they have benefited by treating their skin at the right time with intense moisturising.

The Korean beauty regimen is quite different from any other beauty regimens followed across the world. Here’s how you can also get blemish free, dewy skin just like the Koreans by following the world famous Korean beauty regimen.

Step 1: Wash away by double cleansing

Korean women follow a two-step regime for face cleansing. They start off by using an oil-based face cleanser to remove their makeup and other impurities such as dust. They then use a soap-based, foam cleanser that cleans the skin throughout and removes excess oil, sweat and left over dust and makeup.

    Step 2: Buff and exfoliate

Koreans exfoliate their skin on a regular basis and sometimes exfoliate only on the target areas such as the T-zone or cheeks where they are more prone to blackheads/ whiteheads/ excessively oily or dry skin. Koreans prefer using a mild, natural, sugar based scrub that gently cleans and removes the dead skin.

    Step 3: Refreshing with toners

‘Toners’ are often termed as ‘refreshers’ in the Korean beauty glossary. They help remove pollutants and any residue from the cleansers and prep it for the next step while restoring the skin’s PH level.

Korean toners are less harsh and drying as compared to toners used elsewhere. They are hydrating yet clarifying.

    Step 4: The ‘Essence’

Regarded as the most essential part of the Korean beauty regimen, essences are nourished liquid concentrates that contain active ingredients that work on the skin at cellular levels and cell regeneration.

    Step 5: Ample of ‘Ampoule’

Ampoule is commonly called serum in the West and is more concentrated as compared to essences. Another important step in the Korean beauty regimen, Ampoule, is the one solution for all your skin problems like ageing, dull skin, scars, uneven skin tone etc. Ampoule helps in brightening the skin, removing sun-spots and it also firms and hydrates the skin at cellular level.

    Step 6: The sheet mask

Korean beauty regimen includes use of sheet masks twice a week for maximum effectiveness. They are available in different varieties focusing on your target areas. They are also available in different shapes for you to focus on specific areas like under-eyes, nose, area around your lips etc.  The Korean beauty market has different masks like clarifying, hydrating, whitening, anti-aging etc.

Step 7: Eyeing the eye cream

Koreans believe that prevention is better than cure. They apply a thick eye cream twice a day to prevent wrinkles, fine lines and puffiness under their eyes.

    Step 8: Adding moisture

In order to seal all the products in, Koreans add another layer in their daily routine. They hydrate their skin with a thick layer of moisturiser and emulsify the skin. They use a light moisturising cream with SPF for the day and a thick moisture rich cream for the night.

Step 9: Sleeping with a mask on

Sleeping masks are a very important part of the Korean beauty regimen. Sleeping masks provide an extra dose of hydration and restore firmness of the skin proving a dewy glow next morning.

That’s not it! Korean beauty regimen also includes regular facials at frequent intervals. Koreans prefer home facials, they regularly steam their face and use different kinds of massage oils and facial creams at home that help in stimulating facial muscles, slimming down the face and cleaning the skin for a healthy, dewy glow.

  • Things you need to get through monsoon in style

Things you need to get through monsoon in style

While most people look forward to the rainy season, the anticipation and excitement gets over after the first couple of days. Like every season, monsoon comes with its own negatives and positives. The rain washes away heat and provides the much needed relief but it leaves everyone feeling sticky and moist. Here are a few tips for monsoon that will ensure you get through the season looking and feeling effortlessly stylish.

    1) Clothes

Just like summer and winter, we need to change the way we dress during monsoon. Opt for clothes that are made of lighter fabrics like blended cotton and polyester. These fabrics dry up faster if you get soaked in rainwater and don’t crush very easily. Refrain from layering too much to feel light and easy when the weather gets sticky.

    2) Hair

Monsoon is almost synonymous with frizzy hair. If your hair doesn’t curl up like instant noodles in the humidity, believe us you’re one of the few lucky people out there. For all the others, avoid using hair sprays, lacquers, gel and other hair products as they stick to the scalp and form a layer of product buildup that is very difficult to get rid of. Tie your hair in a top knot, or a sleek ponytail and remember to keep it very simple. If you like to keep them open, spray some dry shampoo on your hair brush before running it through your hair to keep the scalp dry.

    3) Shoes

Needless to say, avoid covered leather and suede shoes/heels during monsoon. Water does permanent damage to this kind of material and you might not be able to wear them ever again. If you really can’t do without them, we suggest wearing light rubber or plastic slippers when you’re outdoors and changing into your preferred shoes later.

If you like to make a statement, invest in a pair of rain boots. They go very well with skirts, dresses and denims.

    4) Makeup

Stay away from foundations during rainy season as it might flow down with the water. Swap that with a compact powder and use a very light moisturiser. Keep your choice of lip and nail colours neutral and use waterproof mascara and eye liner.

    5) Bags

Just like your shoes, avoid leather and suede bags. Carry waterproof bags and be sure to keep your mobile phones and important gadgets covered with protective plastic so they don’t get ruined.

    6) Raincoats/ Umbrellas

Carrying an umbrella is a must during monsoon. You may choose a style according to your preference and requirements. If you’re too lazy to carry an umbrella around then opt for a rain coat or a trench coat.
