A new makeup essential in your vanity kit is a highlighter. A highlighter basically makes your skin glow just like it does under candle light without the obvious noticeable impact of shiny sparkly shimmer. It is an amazing product to emphasise your best facial features and draw attention away from the ones you aren’t very happy about. Here are three face highlighters in India that you can choose from.
Before you buy a highlighter make sure you choose the right highlighter type according to the amount of glow you want on your skin. Please refrain from over-applying the highlighter as that just burns the light on your face and makes it look very shiny. Here’s a tutorial by Reiva Cruze to help you learn how to apply a highlighter properly.
A liquid highlighter works best for full coverage. You can also mix it with a moisturiser and apply it all over your face. Liquid highlighters add dimension to your face and prevent dullness and are a great product for dry skin.
If you’re looking to highlight your cheekbones, brow lines, chin and the bridge of your nose for that daily, dewy look, Benefit Cosmetics’ High Beam should be your go-to product. This liquid highlighter is perfect to use after you’ve put your foundation on. It blends with the skin and does not get absorbed into pores. Moreover, it does not clump up and lasts for a good 6-8 hours. The only two problems with this product are its packaging and price. It’s packaged just like a nail polish which can sometimes result in a messy over-application and it’s priced high at INR 2,990. You can buy this product online here www.elitify.com

A more affordable option is Colorbar’s Radiant Glow Illuminator pen. Its tip is in the form of a brush that is not the most suitable option for applying a highlighter so we suggest you get some product on your finger tips to avoid slathering too much of it on to your face. This product is very good for special occasions and parties because of its champagne colour like sheen finish. Just pat the product on to the skin, do not rub it in as it just vanishes. You may buy the product at any ColorBar store for INR 525 or order it online here at www.nykaa.com
Powder Highlighters are our personal favourites. They are easily available, inexpensive and amazing to use at home. Powder highlighters are best for everyday use as they give just the right amount of glow that’s ideal for daytime. You can just use a brush and dab it all over your face or use it on specific areas to highlight them. These are very good for under-eye application as they make your eyes stand out too.
Bobbi Brown’s Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick is a very good powder highlighter for both day and night time. It offers five different shades in the form of a compact brick which you can either use individually or together. The different shades can be used alternatively as eye shadow and blush too. This highlighter is perfect for oily and combination skin as it does not cake up and lasts for very long. Please do not drop the compact on the floor because once it breaks, all the shades get mixed up and it becomes very difficult to use. This product is easily available at all Bobbi Brown stores.

Add a new twist to your nail art with this simple DIY tutorial. Just use these simple products available at home and give yourself a manicure that looks as good as one done by a professional.
Things you need: A black nail paint, a white nail paint and base coat; a set of toothpicks, one empty cup, water and nail paint remover.
Step 1: Start with applying the base coat to your nails and let it dry. After it has dried, apply the black nail paint to your nails and wait until that is dry too.
Step 2: Fill half the empty cup with water and carefully pour one drop of the white nail paint in it. Make sure that water is at room temperature as this helps the nail paint spread evenly.
Step 3: Using a toothpick, draw a textured design on the nail paint and water mix in the cup just like it’s done in picture 5.
Step 4: Once you get the right texture, dip your finger in the cup for approximately 15 seconds until that design is replicated on to your nail. While the finger is still immersed, with the help of a toothpick wipe off the excess nail color to avoid it from sticking on to your skin as shown in the picture.
Step 5: Take out your finger from the cup and let the nail art dry completely. Once again, remove any excess nail paint with the help of some cotton and nail paint remover. Finish your look with a topcoat.
Easy, isn’t it? If you don’t have black or white nail paints, feel free to experiment with different colours. We suggest using shades of neon to create a chic summer look.

The new essential in your makeup kit is a face primer. For those of you who are not aware of the importance of a primer, it’s the new step that is followed by the age-old regime of CTM (Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing). Not only does a primer hold your makeup for a long time, it preps your skin for absorbing makeup, minimises pores and fine lines and acts as a protective layer between your skin and your foundation. Here are three face primers in India that you must try.

Maison Lancome reopened its doors to its loyal followers at Select City Walk Mall, Saket recently and the launch event was an extravagant affair. Celebrity makeup artist Stafford Braganza graced the occasion with his presence and had a little chat with us about his favourite products from the brand’s new range. Here’s what he had to say;
Stafford Braganza: So my five favourite products from Lancome goes as follows;
#1 Genifique
First we have ‘Genifique’, Genifique is a miracle in a bottle, I can call it. It is a serum that actually prepares your skin for makeup to actually come on. It’s a very light serum it actually works on a gene technology so when you put it on it prepares your skin and in a long run your skin feels very soft and supple and it actually regenerates our new skin cells and makes the skin even more softer.
#2 Le Crayon Khol
My next product is ‘Le Crayon Khol’, Le Crayon khol in other words would be called ‘kaajal’ pencil but I like to call it khol pencil because unlike a kaajal this product will not smudge unless you want it to smudge. This is a good product to actually wear during the day time and with a little swish of your fingers on your lashes it actually gives you a very soft smokey look and this can be actually used along with your eye shadow palette which is also one of my favourite.
#3 Hypnose Eyeshadow Palette
This is called the ‘Hypnose’ palette style 1. For all you ladies out there that want one palette for evening and night look we have this one because you have your light colours then you have your darker colours.
#4 L’ Absolu Rouge’ number 134
My favourite red lipsticks in Lancome it’s called. L’Absolu Rouge’ number 134. This red lipstick is actually very good for most Indian skin tones because we Indians have yellow undertones so picking the right red lipstick is very very important. So number 134.
#5 Tient Miracle
And finally last but not the least I have ‘Tient Miracle’. Tient miracle is again another foundation that Lancome introduced couple of years ago but this will still remain my favourite only because this product has 40% of water and having 40% of water in your foundation really hydrates the skin.
