Neha Dhupia talks about partnering with Kiehl’s India for the Teach For India initiative

To commemorate its 5th Anniversary in India, the cosmetic brand Kiehl’s partnered with actress Neha Dhupia and Teach For India to establish ‘Kiehl’s Gives’ – an ongoing global initiative to promote philanthropy. For the first time in India, the brand retailed a special edition of their Ultra Facial Cream – the world’s favourite moisturizer –100% net proceeds from which (up to INR 7,00,000), will go straight to Teach For India in February 2016 to educate underprivileged children across the country.

    Actress Neha Dhupia was a proud partner of the collaboration and we got a chance to speak to her about the Teach for India initiative and the importance of educating young minds in India. Here’s what she had to say;

Kiehl’s, along with Teach For India and Neha Dhupia, wants to bring an end to India’s educational crisis. In India, according to Teach For India, 90% children start school, 58% drop out of primary school and only 10% finish high school and go on to study in colleges across India.

Teach for India tirelessly works towards bridging the gaps and challenges that underprivileged children face in education. Supportive partners like Kiehl’s share our passion for improving the lives of these kids, and fostering optimism and making education a human right,” says Neha Dhupia.

The special edition designed bottle echoes with Neha Dhupia’s sentiment to “give where you live” to eliminate educational inequality in India. Purchasing 10 jars of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream will help bring excellent education to 1 child in a Teach For India classroom for 1 year.

The vision for this vibrant bottle label has been a collaborative effort between Neha Dhupia and the children from Teach for India. Colourful butterflies take to the skies in the same manner as children live up to their full potential – charting their distinctive journeys to success and happiness.

“Kiehl’s has a long-standing heritage of working to further the cause of children. In our completion of 5 years in India, We are proud to continue this important philanthropic work with Teach For India, an effective, on-the-ground, organization built on the foundation that every child has the right to get an education and that all children deserve a future. Thank you Neha Dhupia and our Customers for helping support this wonderful cause”  says Kiehl’s India General Manager Smira Bakshi.”

  • Day 1: The best of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016

Day 1: The best of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016

The Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016 opened in the capital with a bang at a brand new venue, Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road recently and we were excited to catch the action.

Designer Varun Bahl opened the 27th edition of Amazon India Fashion Week with his collection titled “Nocturn”. The models walked the runway donning jackets and dresses with floral motifs and embellishments in earthy shades setting the right tone for the onset of autumn. The hair and makeup was kept simple with strong highlights on the face representing sheer beauty just like the collection itself.

    AIFW-Day1-Varun-Bahl-1

Hands down, the most stunning collection from the first day of the fashion extravaganza belonged to designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil. Their collection titled ‘The Last Walk’ had just the right touch of the Victorian vibe with capes, gowns and dresses in dominant shades of beige, white and red. What made the collection so special was the extraordinary attention paid to details in terms of draping, pleating and layering.

    AIFW-Day1-Shantanu&Nikhil-2

Pieces from designer duo Hemant and Nandita’s collection are sure to add the ‘it’ factor to your winter wardrobe. Jackets, pleated skirts, ruffled dresses all paired with thigh-high lace up boots welcomed the statement trends for fall. The colour palette introduced shades of red, blue, beige and a surprisingly refreshing orange to an otherwise earthy winter collection.

Concluding the first day of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016 was designer Gaurav Gupta’s collection titled ‘Melt’ that addressed the importance of climate change and global warming. He even borrowed the colour palette from the effects of global warming starting from flaming orange, blazing dark blue moving towards coal black and the grey from the ashes.

Like always, Deepika looked mesmerizing in her scarlet red cape suit that she wore with a pair of red pumps. She enhanced her look with minimal accessories and a pop of red on the lips.

She garnered attention from everyone present at the event, while speaking of her attachment with the brand. Deepika has been associated with the brand for almost eightyears now and , she proudly spoke to Business Standard

about her love for the brand, “I have shared a very special association with Tissot. I have been with it for almost seven or eight years now. It’s one of those brands that I started endorsing right from the beginning of my career when I was just a model. • 9 things about the odd-even rule that will probably ruin our lives!

9 things about the odd-even rule that will probably ruin our lives!

The debate over the odd-even rule on Delhi roads has been going on for so long that most of us have had enough of it. People are still trying to figure out how they’re going to make changes to their daily life to still get to work or college on time. While others argue the feasibility of the solution, we youngsters have a completely different set of problems to deal with. Take a look at these nine things about the odd-even rule that will probably ruin our lives for good!

#1 Auto prices will probably go up

Everybody knows how hard it is to convince an autowallah to drive you to your destination by meter. Now that they know that their demand is going to go up, chances of you finding an autowallah willing to drop you at the right price will be one in a million! And don’t we all know how good auto rickshaw drivers are at getting on our nerves. This is going to be a huge issue for those who’re thinking of relying on public transport!

     odd-even rule

    Source

    #2 Dearth of public transport

Car-pooling or public transport are the only two options we are left with after the odd-even rule is put in place. Car-pooling is still manageable. Kudos to those who have no option but to use public transport! Seriously, we are already teary-eyed for them. Given the lack of good public transport in the city, it’s going to be a task to catch a bus, get an auto or even get inside the metro. It’s going to be utter chaos and we dread to even think about it!

     odd-even ruleSource

#3 People will start lying/ promoting corruption

We’re not being negative here but we do believe that this might happen! Indians are just too good at faking things and are proud of that celebrated concept called ‘jugaad’. According to reports, if someone is dealing with an illness of any kind, they are exempted from the rule on provision of sufficient proof. On being stopped by the cops they can use their illness as an excuse to avoid getting a ticket. Now, people can lie, easily get fake prescriptions and be on their way, hence, you just got corrupt, my friend!

     odd-even ruleSource

#4 What if you run out of luck?

Hypothetically; you drive to a friend’s place for a party and you make up your mind to stay the night. The next day is for even cars and you’re far from realising it, because to hell with all that when you’re with your bros, right? The next morning, you are not only going to have to nurse a hangover but also deal with that big question: How on Earth will you get home?! If you take your car out you know the cops are waiting for you. If you don’t, you’ll have to come back the next day to collect it. What a pain! Your only solution is to be on your way early morning and be where you have to be before the clock strikes 8. Man, the odds aren’t in your favour.

     odd-even ruleSource

    #5 Impromptu dates

Your girlfriend wants to hang but the same crappy problem pops up. You can’t take your car and she’s free from this odd-even rule because she’s a woman! (No, no sarcasm there!) So you pull up in an auto while she parks her car with ease and let’s be honest, you make the ‘whatever!’ face and hope she doesn’t see you.

     odd-even ruleSource

#6 Bikers will have the road to themselves

So the odd-even rule doesn’t apply to women AND bikers. The reason behind it is still obscure to us. Good news for bikers, the road belongs to you NOT! Do not take this rule as an advantage. Road accidents will still take place and people will get hurt and we aren’t blaming you. But good for you, you have more space to ride your machine.

     odd-even ruleSource

#7 You can enjoy dry humping, if that’s your thing

People who will be using the metro for their daily commute, there’s good news for you all. You get to dry hump sweaty men and stick your nose into the armpits, don’t matter if these are your fetishes or not. You’ll be served and served well. That’s what’s going to happen when you step into an overly crowded metro after the odd-even rule takes place. We just hope that you can take it mentally and physically, of course.

     odd-even rule

    Source

#8 DTC buses will get messier than ever

Coming down to DTC buses, they’ve never been an option for many of us but when the time comes, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. When you run out of options, you can either stay home or get yourself where you have to be by taking chances or chances with the public transport. Good Luck.

     odd-even rule

    Source

#9 Traveling will be a task

All this proves that traveling will be a task and not an easy one. Imagine the number of vacant seats available is 1 and the contenders for that seat are 10 and counting. The one, who gets the seat, gets a free travel pass! Heck, we just gave the government a new idea to promote the use of public transport! You can thank us later!

  • 5 things you missed out on if you didn’t attend the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Delhi!

5 things you missed out on if you didn’t attend the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Delhi!

28th and 29th November were the happiest two days of November in Delhi. All thanks to Bacardi NH7 Weekender, people in the capital witnessed something so legendary that they couldn’t get enough. Coming back to us every year, Weekender has always landed right on our expectations with what they promise. And this year, they helped us Delhiites to put an end to November with a bang. This is what Bacardi NH7 Weekender did for us!

    #1 Great music, of course!

That’s what Bacardi NH7 Weekender is all about when you have freaking fifty artists who performed for Delhi for two days! It included big names like, A.R. Rahman, Vishal Dadlani, Mark Ronson, Vir Das’ Alien Chutney and many more! This is what gets the people together every year. Seriously, if you missed out on this, feel sorry for yourself.

    #2 The Merchandises!

Talk about crazy party merchandises; from hoodies, sweatshirts, posters to even records for gramophones, everything a music-lover wants was available for them to purchase at the event and in abundance. It won’t be incorrect to say that the inner shopaholic of a music lover came to life for those two days.

    #3 Bacardi OCULUS!

This year at Bacardi NH7 Weekender people were introduced to a 7D virtual experience, Bacardi OCULUS. It was an experience that took the fans and fun to another level and of course, raised the bar for all the other music fests happening around the country.

    Bacardi NH7 Weekender

    #4 Good food!

Where there are people, good music and drinks, food becomes a necessity. And when you have thousands of people come together for a great time food is what keeps the energy up. Plus, having stalls by some of the best outlets in the food court, people had to make difficult decisions between attending the concert and hogging some mouth-watering food.

    Bacardi NH7 Weekender

    Source

(It’s getting better and better, isn’t it? Don’t start to weep now)

    #5 The mad crowd

Delhi has been known for its energy when it comes to a festival that has been bringing them such great artists over the years. The crowd had one job, to enjoy to the extreme and Delhi has always done that flawlessly. Delhi cheered for the artists just to send out a message that they are having the time of their lives. Two insane nights has satisfied Delhi’s hunger until Bacardi NH7 Weekender is back again.

This video is a good combination of laughter and a little bit of knowledge that you should have. Take a look at what we have acquired for you.

  • This dog has a request for all of us and its hard hitting!

This dog has a request for all of us and its hard hitting!

Hi, my name is courage. I look like a normal, happy and a healthy dog.

    Inp img-1

    But I’m not.

    Inp img-2

I am one of those unfortunate living beings who were born on the streets and never had a chance to have a nice and loving family. They say I might be around 1.5 years old but I’ve lost the count of days where I had to go from street to street looking for food or a mere scratch on the back.

Life for me was okay till the time a human car (on a fine day) didn’t spot me walking on the road without realising that the car has brakes (or maybe he did realise – that’s something I would never know).

Little did I know, that very moment would change my life forever. Yes, the car ran over my hind legs and the human inside it never looked back.

This is exactly how he left me on the road.

    Inp img-3

You guessed it right! Those are my hind legs and I don’t feel them anymore.

I suffered at one of the busiest junctions in New Delhi with my inability to walk. I even once fell into a drain only to realise that I can’t get out of it myself. But, there was a good human that spotted me and saw how miserable I was. He was an auto-rickshaw puller. The man did pull me out of the drain but again; the hustle-bustle around that junction didn’t allow my rear legs to drag the rest of my body to a safer place. There I was. Lying in the corner for 8 days straight. Some did try and threw leftover food at me and I somehow didn’t die (though there wasn’t any reason for me to live).

    Inp img-4

    Here I am now.

    Inp img-5

I do agree, not all of them are bad. There was this human who saw me fighting for life on the road side and took me somewhere in his car (though I hated the fact that I was in one). I hate cars. I’m sure you guys have figured that out by now. But strangely, I still don’t hate humans. Every time one approaches me, with my gleaming eyes I try to wag my tail with happiness but unfortunately I can’t feel my tail either.

I now live at a beautiful shelter with many other dogs (some of them are just like me) and a beautiful lady who took me in and cares for me.

    Inp img-6

I have a humble request for whoever’s reading this post. If you drive a car, please make sure that you apply brakes when you see one of us in the middle of the road. It’ll only delay your ride by 15 seconds but it will cost us our lives or put us in terrible pain for the rest of it. Give me a home? Somebody? I promise I’d love you forever!

    Inp img-7

So that’s my story. I’m a fighter. And I hope for a better tomorrow not just for me, but many others like me.

Everything we loved at the first day of Amazon India Fashion Week SS’16

The first day of Amazon India Fashion Week kicked off with Sanjay Garg of the Raw Mango showcasing his collection at the brand new venue, NSIC grounds in Okhla, New Delhi. Heavy on hand-woven fabrics and silk the first day of the event was full of surprises. Here’s everything you need to know.

The opening of this event was nothing short of extraordinary with the runway decked in outfits from Sanjay Garg’s spring summer collection. Raw silk and plain cotton were the main highlights with intricate work in gold on shades of pink, red and blue.

Hand-woven fabrics took the center stage on the first day of the Amazon India Fashion Week with designers like Anavila Misra and Vaishali S showcasing ethnic silhouettes made from raw silk and cotton.

Androgyny also made an appearance with designer Vineet Bahl’s lineup that included floral boxy tops paired with tapered pants in shades of pink, blue and yellow.

Staying true to the season’s requirement, pastels made the obvious comeback at Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer 16 with Kavita Bhartia’s collection but this time with bold embellishments and in a variety of silhouettes.

Designers Shivan & Narresh concluded the day with their art-inspired collection in collaboration with the kitchen and bath specialty brand Kohler.  The collection took inspiration from Kohler’s Couture offerings and was an amalgamation of trikinis, draped trankinis, resort sarees, and bikinis. What’s more, it was presented at the landmark Imperial Hotel in Delhi and made for the perfect offsite show.

Asian food indulgence at Chi Asian Cookhouse now in Janpath

There are now many restaurants in Delhi offering great Asian food, and they are only getting better. Thank people with open mindsets and taste palettes along with an ever-increasing sense of competition to win over the hearts of Delhiites, known for taking their food very damn seriously.

Offering Pan-Asian food in the most accessible part of the city, Janpath, now is Chi Asian Cookhouse; a reinvention of Chi Kitchen & Bar (at Select Citywalk Mall, Saket). For those who love digging into real Asian food, this place is a must-visit. What’s great about the place is that it does not offer fusion-Asian and the place isn’t decked with the colour red or the obvious Chinese motifs that really just distract you from enjoying the real taste of the food.

    Chi Asian Cookhouse, Janapth (2)

Their food menu offers salads, soups, skewers, oriental roasts, dimsums, crisps, pancakes & rolls and some more main dishes. Gone are the days when one placed food orders following a script starting with soup & salad, moving on to the starters followed by the rest, which is why we ordered the dimsums first. Since we haven’t been to many places offering good prawn dimsums in Delhi, we ordered that first and didn’t regret the decision at all. Soft on the outside and just the perfect amount of crisp on the inside their ‘Prawn Cheung Fun’ was exactly what we were looking for. The dark soy sauce served with added just the right flavour to it.

    Prawn Cheung Fun

The ‘Ho Chi Minh Grilled Chicken Satay’ (chicken skewers seasoned with chilli and lemon leaf) and the ‘Cho Ca Thang’ (Vietnamese fish skewers served with turmeric and dill) were the starters. The chicken was slightly over done but the garlic sauce paired with it made up for the dry taste.

If you’re a fan of curry, then you must definitely order the ‘Cheating Chilli Prawns’ served in a tangy yet very chilli sauce. Order the aromatic rice to go with them, we’d recommend the ‘Roast Garlic and Coriander’ rice. Finish off with the warm coconut pancakes served with vanilla ice cream, topped with an orange drizzle and thank us later.

  • Problems every Delhiite faces on a normal day

Problems every Delhiite faces on a normal day

There’s no two ways about the fact that Delhiites are very proud of the city they live in. They have great malls to shop at and amazing places to eat at but like every other place in the world, Delhi comes with its own set of problems too. Don’t believe us? Take a look at these few problems every Delhiite faces on a normal day, well almost.

    #1) Traffic

Every Delhiite is aware of what’s coming their way when they leave their workplace or home. Delhi traffic has killed more plans than a sudden change in weather.

    04-incredible-in-car- (1)

    #2 Pollution

That moment when you step out of your car and breathe in a fresh whiff of air only to realise that you are choking on an LIIT of various toxic gases in the air.

    giphySource

    #3 Parking

Delhiites loves their vehicles whether it’s a bike or a car. But, things get real when you realise that there is no place to leave them other than the reserved parking spot outside your house. And this problem starts before you start working, early on in the day paving way for the other problems that are waiting for you.

    1

    #4 Driving

This is what Delhi is known for, its reckless way of driving.  To hell with the traffic lights and the brakes we have in our vehicles. Till the time you haven’t pissed someone off on the road, you haven’t done it right.

    giphy (1)Source

    #5 Basic etiquettes

Most Delhiites have forgetten the meaning of basic etiquettes like holding the door open for the person behind you, or letting pedestrians cross the road first. It’s more like quid pro quo here. People are too busy (sometimes scared) to help the needy.

    tumblr_mbradrp1gg1qbgu0jo1_500Source

    #6 Eve-teasing

Walk around with your female friend at the busiest, most chilled out places Delhi has to offer and chances are you will hear a voice singing a cheap song for her. That’s when you know, Delhi has welcomed you.

    #8 The Delhi Metro

We like people. Having them around is nice. But travelling in the Delhi Metro is an experience on its own. We take pride in the fact that Delhi has an amazing system for public transport but the pushing, the stepping on each other’s feet and not maintaining the right distance with your fellow passengers makes it slightly unpleasant.

    #9 Arguing with the Autowalas

If you think it’s easier for Delhiites to travel, sorry to break this to you, it isn’t true. Many people prefer auto over other means of transport but it’s not always easy to find a ride home that too at a reasonable price. One has to argue till they drop and at times, pay more than they are supposed to.
