Christmas banter at The Imperial, New Delhi

Christmas is the best part of winter. It’s not just the decorations and the gifts but the food that makes this festival what it is. If you’re looking for a place that is a treat to your eyes and your taste buds look no further. The Imperial, New Delhi is all set to give your Christmas cravings the much-needed love. La baguette, the hotel’s French Patisserie is featuring an exclusive Christmas spread till the end of the month and it is a foodie’s paradise. Here’s everything you need to know about out experience of the Christmas Banter at The Imperial Hotel in New Delhi.

Walk into The Imperial Hotel at Janpath and you’ll be greeted by a beautiful Christmas tree that sets the festivities right in. The indulgent buffet was decked with Christmas decorations complete with gingerbread house, stollen, traditional plum cake, Christmas pudding, macaroons, chicken and leek pies, scones among many other offerings.

Our favourites from the spread were the Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, tuna and olive sandwiches, mini creamy chicken sliders, lamb mince pie, chicken and leek pie and the spinach and ricotta quiche. The spread was prepared with extra ordinary care, mixing respect for tradition with a penchant for excellence and the conviction to try new techniques and ingredients.

Trying out the buffet in itself was an overwhelming experience but Chef Prem Kumar Pogakula’s live cookout took it many notches up. He prepared 2-minutes mug cakes (you’ll find the recipe appended below) in a microwave and offered the easy recipe to everyone for their friends and family. The showstopper of the evening was definitely the ‘Baked Alaska’ dessert, made with baked ice cream, egg white and brandy that was set on fire.

Every year people wait for Christmas because who doesn’t love free gifts, hot chocolate and marshmallows while you wait for the one who never shows up. Just kidding, Christmas is more than that. It’s another reason to get together with your friends and family and celebrate the end of the year and welcome the new one simultaneously. 7 real wishes Santa must grant this Christmas

‘Ask and thou shall receive’, reads the bible. It’s high time we start being cautious about what we ask for and incline our wishes towards the welfare of the society. Human beings are said to be the only sensible beings and are expected to be empathetic towards one another. But somehow there are various factors that have been responsible in spreading misery around the world, certain factors are man made and the rest are natural calamities. Take a look at these seven wishes we have for Santa this Christmas that’ll help the world be a better place to live in.

#1 Earthquakes

We witnessed a major natural calamity this year. The devastating earthquake that happened in Nepal, took a toll on many lives, I am sure none of us would want to see a sight like that ever again. Let’s ask Santa to stop earthquakes for good and help those who were affected by it.

What led to that situation was when Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), the brat, was mistakenly left behind by his family while they took a trip to Paris. Home Alone shows how Kevin protects his family home against the burglars while his family tries to reach him. Home Alone is said to be one of the best Christmas movie of all time and a complete family entertainer.

You must remember the name, A Christmas Carol, from your school literature books. The movie is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novella about an old unhappy grumpy man who despises everyone and Christmas, Mr Ebenezer Scrooge. He is transformed into a loving and gentle man after he is visited by the business partner, Jacob Marley’s and ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. Itis an animated movie and the character Ebenezer Scrooge is voiced by Jim Carrey.
