The month of February is all set to offer light-hearted comedies and romantic dramas perfect for Valentine’s Day that is just around the corner. Here’s everything you need to know about the movies releasing in February 2016.

1) Ghayal Once Again – 5th February

Home production of the Deols, Ghayal Once Again is the sequel to the blockbuster of the 1990’s Ghayal. The movie has been produced by Dharmendra and directed by the versatile Sunny Deol who is also the lead actor in the movie. This action drama will also feature Soha Ali Khan and Shivam Patil. The movie was set to hit the screens on 13th November 2015 but got delayed as it was unable to meet the deadline, reportedly due to VFX work. The Hollywood action co-ordinator, Dan Bradley, has designed the action sequences and the movie is now set to release on 5^th February.

Run time: 128 minutes

2) Fitoor – 12 February

One of the most awaited movies of 2016, Fitoor is an alteration of Charles Dickens’s novel Great Expectation. This ode to love is directed by Abhishek Kapoor who also directed Kai Po Che. Starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles, the movie centers around a young Kashmiri boy Noor and his lady love Firdaus. The movie will also feature Tabu as a temperamental Begum.

Run time: 131 Minutes

3) Sanam Re – 12th February

Starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam in the lead roles, Sanam Re is an intense romantic drama directed by Yaariyan fame’s Divya Khosla Kumar and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Ajay Kapoor. The movie also features Urvashi Rautela and Rishi Kapoor in pivotal supporting roles. Sanam Re is all set to hit the screen during the Valentine week in 2016.

Run time: 120 minutes

4) Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive – 19 February

Sequel to the 2010 film Tere Bin Laden, Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive is a forthcoming quirky comical satire. Starring Manish Paul, Pradhuman Singh, Piyush Mishra and Mia Uyeda, the movie revolves around the controversy created about Osama’s death only depicted with a lot of humour.

5) Neerja – 19th February

Neerja as the name suggests is an incredible biographical film based on Late Neerja Bhanot, a 23 year old flight attendant who was shot dead on a Pan Am Flight 73; the flight that was hijacked by terrorists in Karachi on 5th September 1986. The movie features Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Shekhar Ravjiani and narrates the story of Neerja Bhanot’s sacrifice and remarkable courage that enabled her to save 360 lives.

Run time: 122 minutes

6) Aligarh – 29th February

Directed by National Award winner Hansal Mehta, Aligarh starring Rajkummar Rao and Manoj Bajpayee is based on a true incident of a professor from Aligarh Muslim University. Professor Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras played by Manoj Bajpayee, taught Marathi language and was sacked from his job because of his sexual preferences. The movie depicts his struggle to find a place in the society.

Have you ever seen a guitar painted with human blood? Here’s what it looks like!

NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) showcased a guitar that couldn’t be compared to any other presented at the event. What was so special about this one guitar that was showcased to the fans, metalheads, press and everyone present there by the Slayer/ Exodus guitarist, Gary Holt, was that it was covered in blood. Gary Holt’s blood, quite literally. The magnificent ESP was painted by the insanely talented Vincent Castiglia who teamed up with Gary for this project.

Gary was suggested Castiglia by a common friend and that’s when the ideas started to flow about a new project. Not to forget, anything like this has never happened, making this ESP the very first guitar to be covered in blood. Now, if you ask us, that’s some mad, dark, art right there! Gary actually gave 18 vials of his blood to make this project come to life, which of course wouldn’t have been possible without Vincent’s hard work on a stretch of months.

According to the reports the Supreme Court has accepted the petition against 377 which means there is hope and that is a big deal. The Supreme Court has now referred section 377 to a five judge bench and the final verdict is still awaited. This has appeared to be a ray of light for all who stood against the Section 377.

This subject of legalising gay sex did remind us of one thing though; we shared a video with you people asking one simple question, ‘Are many of us straight just because we have been socially conditioned to be so?’ and what you told us is right here and we respect your perspective. Hansal Mehta’s Aligarh is out with its first trailer and has already been given the ‘A’ certificate for the most absurd reason ever!

Eros Now shared the trailer for their upcoming movie, Aligarh, that stars Manoj Bajpai in the lead as a gay professor and Rajkummar Rao as a journalist. Hansal Mehta’s Aligarh is based on a true story in which Dr Srinivas Ramchandra Siras, a professor who taught Marathi at Aligarh Muslim University was suspended from his position of Reader and Chair of Modern Indian Languages because he was homosexual.

The trailer is as powerful as the subject of the movie and has already got the ‘Adult’ certificate just because homosexuality is considerd a taboo in our country! Hansal Mehta, the director of the movie, was furious about the decision taken by the censor board and so were these people who didn’t hold back in saying what they had to say! Hasn’t it reached a stage where we need to move on and embrace these sensitive matters with an open mind?

The Doctor who attacked the Uber cabbie finally speaks up for the first time!

We recently shared a video where a drunk doctor aka Anjali Ramkissoon is seen picking up a fight with an Uber cabbie after he denied driving her home. The chaos that she created was clearly caught on video. And now, she’s back on camera but for a better reason.

Anjali showed up at Good Morning America and did look that she’s been through hell after her video of attacking the driver got viral. She felt sorry and was thankful that the cab driver didn’t press any charges. Take a look at what she has to say about the things that went down that night in the video below.

That Ashram that Beatles stayed in? Well, it’s opening their doors for the tourists!

Every fan knows that The Beatles made it to India long back and stayed at the Ashram with their new Guru ji, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. They learned about mantras and meditated while they wrote about forty-eight songs out of which a few made it to their The White Album. The trip was planned to be three months long but as the days passed, Ringo Starr was the first one to call it quits and go home because the food was too spicy for him. John Lennon and George Harrison showed themselves out in six months and Paul McCartney stayed for a month.
The Ashram was run by Guru Maharishi Mahesh and was abandoned in 1970s by him and his followers. Even after that, the Beatles fan would sneak in by jumping the walls or paying a little bribe to the watchmen.
After being abandoned, the Ashram was reclaimed by the authorities, naturally. The retreat has been under local forestry department since 2003. Now, that the Ashram is open for the public, it’s going to cost 150 bucks for Indian tourists and 700 bucks for the foreign tourists. Senior forestry officer told BBC that, “We have cleaned up the place and lined the pathways with flowers. We are making some gardens and putting some benches for visitors” also added, “We are introducing a nature trail and bird walk. We also plan to set up a cafeteria and a souvenir shop at some point. We want to retain the place’s rustic look.”
So, Beatles fans, you won’t see the band live again, but you can always check out the place they’ve been. The place that actually got you some great tracks from The Beatles! Next time you plan a trip to Rishikesh, you know one place you’ve to visit.

Here are the differences between the Republic Day and the Independence Day

Republic Day is here and we are sure that many of you are looking forward to watching the parade in the morning. While many of us look forward to celebrating this day with pride and honour, a lot of us do not understand its importance and often find ourselves confused between the Independence Day and the Republic Day. These two days reflect on our nation’s history, the heroes, the struggles and the progress we’ve made so far, the difference is not just limited to the dates.

So just before we immerse ourselves in the merriment, let’s take a look at these key differences between the Republic Day and the Independence Day.

1) Difference in dates

The first and the most obvious reason is the difference in the dates. While the Independence Day is celebrated on the 15^th of August every year, as the declaration of independence was signed on this day back in 1947; the Republic Day is celebrated on 26^th of January every year. The Republic Day is actually based on 26^th November 1949; the day India’s constitution was drafted for the first time. The constitution finally came into effect on 26^th January 1950 which is why it’s celebrated in January.

2) Difference in its significance

Republic Day celebrates India’s progress since the time of Independence. It is inclined towards highlighting the people who maintain the government like the armed forces and what the future holds. Independence Day, on the other hand, celebrates the birth of our Nation and pays tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to give our nation a better future.

3) President is the man of the Republic Day

The President is the head of the state which is why the Republic Day is his/her day to address the nation. The Independence Day is about paying a tribute to the people who helped us get where we are and fought for our nation and since the Prime Minister heads the people of India; 15^th August is his/her day.

4) Differences in celebration

Another one of the major differences between the Republic Day and the Independence Day lies in the way they are celebrated. The Republic day is celebrated by showcasing a spectacular parade that highlights the achievements of every state with pride and honour. Independence Day is celebrated by every citizen of India without representing a particular state. People celebrate it by singing patriotic songs and await the inspirational speech given by the Prime minister soon after hosting the tricolour flag at the Red Fort in the capital city – Delhi.
