Gurupurab is one of the most important festivals of the Sikhs and is also popularly known as Guru Nanak Jayanti or Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is the birth ceremony of Guru Nanak Dev Ji who was the first guru of the Sikhs. It is celebrated the world over, and Gurdwaras (the sikh temples) are decorated and lit up with diyas to add to the festivities.
