Alia Bhatt steals the show once again

Alia Bhatt turned 23 and celebrated her birthday in the capital with her co-stars Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan Although, it was a working birthday for her; she wore a bambah ensemble and showed up like a pro.

The black and white high-waisted bow dress with a cut-out lace hemline and no shoulder was exactly what we were expecting from her on her special day. She made her innocence become the only accessory for her; perfectly accentuating the outfit with a pinch of perfection.

Her stylist certainly gets a high five from us!

In pictures: Star-studded screening of Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921) held in Mumbai

Recently, the biggies in the Indian film fraternity came together for a special screening of Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921) in a theatre in Mumbai.

Hosted by Karan Johar, the screening was attended by the who’s who of Tinsel Town including Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao, Anushka Sharma, Zoya Akhtar, Rajkumar Hirani, and Masaba Gupta amongst many others.

The Kapoor & Sons team including Shakun Batra and Fawad Khan attended the event with their folks and family. However, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra gave the evening a clear-cut miss.

Aamir Khan reportedly cried his eyes out during the screening, for all the good reasons; we are hoping that’s a good sign for us – the movie buffs. Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921) releases this Friday.

Kareena Kapoor & Arjun Kapoor promote Ki & Ka posing for the shutterbugs

Of late, we have realized that Bollywood actors are taking their jobs way too seriously. We mean the real run for money starts post the final pack up. So, when scheduled promotions become a passé, photo shoots and more photo shoots become the next best alternative. In fact, the trend is keeping all the actors up on their toes. Every time they step out of their vanity van they have got to make a fashion statement and let people write and talk about them. What happens next? A movie promotion in full swing.

Following the route, latest movie promotions had Kareena Kapoor pose for the shutterbugs in her oh-so-beautiful vintage favourites. She ditched those skinny pants as a welcome change and wore a pair of non-skinny denims and a printed shirt, both from Michael Kors. Being the fabulous that she has always been, she teamed it all with just one accessory – the tan belt. Arjun Kapoor, who will be playing her husband in the film complemented his co-star decked up true to his character. Yes, while Ki (Kareena) showed up in retro chic, Ka (Arjun) nodded like a perfect husband in a polka-dotted t-shirt. Just awesome!

The team of Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921) visited the DLF Mall of India as part of their movie’s promotion. The mall authorities played the perfect host and made a surprise arrangement for Alia Bhatt’s birthday. While Alia, Sidharth and Fawad waved to their fans gathered in huge numbers, a small cake cutting ceremony added to the fun. The trio spoke to the media and even danced to the song ‘Kar Gayi Chull’ from their movie and compelled the entire crowd to shake a leg with them.

Alia looked relaxed in a blue half-printed knee-length dress while Sidharth and Fawad turned up in their usual best.

400 brands meticulously spread across 2 million square feet of land – yes we are talking about the largest mall of the country. The recently-opened DLF Mall of India in Noida is certainly a shopper’s paradise housing a plethora of high-street brands under one roof. H&M has its biggest store here.

And, that’s one of the many reasons why we love Bollywood, hands down.

From jackets, shoes, bags to sunglasses – the stars from tinsel town are giving away serious head-to-toe travel looks to hack NOW. From Alia’s look, we loved the over-sized military jacket for it has everything that could save anyone from committing a fashion faux pas and is utterly comfy and weather-friendly. The fringed bag, those cat-eyed pair of sunglasses teamed with ripped denims and royal blue sneakers are quintessential for getting that perfect check-in selfie.

Giving Alia Bhatt a serious competition is actor and author Twinkle Khanna who looked fabulous in a sleeveless long jacket and a pair of aviators. She certainly made this simple look effortlessly gorgeous.

Men should not feel left out at all. Sidharth and Fawad are on a spree defining summer wardrobe essentials like a pro. Sidharth looked dapper in that all-black look without a second thought. But, when he completed the look with a pair of printed boat shoes he certainly made fashion critics sit up and watch. Fawad Khan with that denim patchwork shirt reinvented royal with a bit of street chic leaving us all with some serious fashion goals.

Airport spotting: Alia, Sidharth and Fawad reinvent easy-dressing with a bit of mischief

Movie promotions have certainly moved beyond first looks and a run-of-the-mill teaser song. Gone are the days when an actor’s job was just limited to acting and shooting for the movie. The acting bit only makes up for the half the work today. The second half consists of promoting the movie. And by promoting, we mean offering a limited yet very exciting insight into the movie and converting every viewer possible into an end consumer. Did we mention that promoting the movie has very little acting involved? Yes, promoting means you have to look effortlessly fashionable and confident while travelling across the country to give millions of people a reason to buy that one ticket to watch your upcoming movie. The cast of Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921) is setting a perfect example of the same.

Set to hit the screens this Friday, the super stylish cast of the movie in their comfy denims showed up at the airport with a bit of both – mischief and intelligence. Their t-shirts read out the movie title and its date of release – out and loud and at the same time they redefined the denim-look for all the travel junkies. In case fashion critics are looking at them closely – we must admit this trio is only leading the way up.

The fifth edition of DNA iCan Women’s Half Marathon held in Mumbai on the Sunday after International Women’s Day had the perfect star cast hooting for it. Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor sportingly showed up at the event wearing the title of their first movie together right up on their shoulders.

Written, directed and produced by R. Balki, Ki & Ka revolves around a married couple swapping roles (LITERALLY) and looking at life a bit differently. Subtly challenging gender roles placed upon men and women in the Indian society, it aims at leaving the audience with some food for thought.

Airport Spotting: Alia, Sidharth, Kangana and many more seen at the airport but we are heartbroken

Airport spotting is like getting to know your favourites in B -town a little better. They walk the aisle in their personal favs and leave us with travel must-haves for almost free. But, not every time.

Recently, when these stars were spotted walking in and out of the airport – the camera did not believe it actually knew them. Not even a single interesting look to vouch for. However, we can certainly know what ‘not-to-do’ when you are a public figure flying across places. Hoping they take a note of this and do not disappoint us the next time our camera catches them in the eye.

Okay, we know about Alia and Sidharth and all the buzz around them spending the Valentine’s Day together. But, aren’t we done about that story yet? Spotted twice with Sidharth, Alia showed up as if she had no idea of what’s going on in her life. While once she was found almost wrapping her entire self in a phulkari dupatta, the second look shocked us like hell. She was found flaunting her all-pink and girly bed dress at the airport. We were certainly not impressed. For Sidharth, we only have one suggestion – military print will not save you a look.

A dead trench coat look. Well, when it’s Kangana Ranaut – the expectations are high even when you are off the floor. But, we still love you. Coming down to Neha Dhupia, except from the fact that we love those pair of sneakers – we are wondering why you spoiled the look with that unneeded over-sized trench coat.

A good movie gets a great start. And, if reports are to be believed then Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921) has had a great beginning since its first trailer was out. Everything about this movie is going in its favour. From its unique name, quirky star cast to great music – Kapoor & Sons is catching all the buzz for all the good reasons.

Of late, as a part of the movie’s promotional exercise the much-talked about trio Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan along with Rishi Kapoor and Gulshan Grover came together for a high-on-style promo shoot. What’s more, the lead actors turned up like buddies hand-in-hand. Alia in a pair of deep grey culottes and a crop top sported cool with minimalism. She perfected her look with a head band and was later spotted swapping her yellow stilettos with a pair of gold sneakers telling aloud that the party isn’t over yet. While Sidharth didn’t take the photoshoot so seriously, his popping red shoes saved him from a thumbs down. Spotted donning a checkered suit by designer Rajesh Pratap Singh, Fawad made his royal charm work once again.
