5 Fun Facts about the Italian Superbike brand Benelli you probably didn’t know

#1 Benelli is the oldest Italian motorcycle company.
Benelli commenced operations in 1911 in Presario, Italy; making them the oldest Italian motorcycle company.

#2 The Italian Superbike brand ‘Benelli’ was born in a garage.
Benelli brothers Guiseppe, Giovanni, Francesco, Filippo, Domenico and Antonio (Tonino) started the ‘Benelli’ garage that repaired and manufactured motorcycle parts.

#3 They created their first own bike the ‘Velomotore’ in 1921.
‘Velomotore’ was a single cylinder two stroke 75cc bike adapted to a bicycle frame immediately after which the 98cc ‘Motoleggera’ was manufactured.

#4 Tonino Benelli has more than 1000 victories in the Italian and European Championships and two World Titles.
Tonino Benelli won four Italian championship titles in five years from 1927 – 1931 Riding a Benelli 175.

#5 The Benelli 750 Sei was the first production motorcycle with a 6-cylinder engine.
The Benelli 750 Sei was a very progressive bike and was the only six-cylinder motorcycle in production until the entrance of the Honda CBX in 1978.
