Excess estrogen level, hormonal imbalance, imbalanced blood glucose level or excess weight can cause cellulite production. Stress also plays a huge roll in the development of cellulite. However, the most common cause of cellulite is a poor or unbalanced diet.

So, it’s advisable to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to keep your skin hydrated as dehydration can lead to building cellulite under the skin. Dehydration also results in thinning the skin and decreasing its elasticity.

It’s not just about drinking enough water throughout the day but also consuming food items which are high in water content. And cucumber is a great food substitute for the same. It contains around 90% water and can keeps you hydrated. Some other food items you can switch to are watermelon, lettuce, orange, tomato and broccoli. Fruits like cherries and other berries are great for your body especially for the skin as they are low on glycemic index. This means that these fruits raise your blood sugar slower than other fruits and keep your insulin level under control. Some other low glycemic index fruits include apple, pear and peach. Vegetables like garlic, onion leek and shallot are also great at reducing insulin levels.

#5 Lemon

Citrus fruits lower down the estrogen level in your body and also help in cleaning out your liver. They have an ability to lower the impact of carbohydrates on your body. Our body digests carbohydrates quickly and converts it into sugar which eventually affects the insulin level. So to balance the estrogen and insulin level in your body, squeeze some lemon juice into your meals to bring a delicious flavour to it. What’s more, it will also keep your legs and thighs look trim and structured.

#6 Green tea

Green tea contains some amazing antioxidants that are proven to increase energy levels in your body and make it a great addition to any weight-loss effort. Nuts like peanuts, almonds, walnuts and pecans have amazing anti-estrogenic compounds. They contain plant sterols which restrict bad cholesterol from getting absorbed in your body. Plant sterols balance the over-active estrogen level by increasing progesterone in women and testosterone in men.
