Cure your Monday morning blues right here


It’s Monday again and what is that on the horizon? Oh yes, the sun. It’s rising. Soon, your alarm will ring. And there it begins. The renegotiation with yourself for five more minutes of blissful sleep, the cursing at the alarm, and the inevitable dawning of your doom. Monday is back. With more torture and less sleep.

But you have no choice. You have to start your week. You can’t spend the rest of your life in your bed, no matter how much you want to. It’s okay. No one is allowed the luxury of being spared from this pain. Don’t worry, you can cure your Monday morning blues right here!

#1 Don’t call it Monday

Don’t think of it as Monday. That word has negative connotations. Think of it as a new dawning. A new adventure. Think of it as all the things you are going to do right. Tell yourself that you can do anything and everything this week if you can wake up when that alarm rings.




#2 Listen to music

Play the most upbeat music you know the minute you wake up and it’ll be hard for you to be down for long. Let your body sway to the music, tap your feet to the beat, and sing along while you are getting ready. The cobwebs of Monday will go away.

#3 Exercise

Once you have that music moving you about, how about taking it one step further? Go for a jog or hit the gym. You can also do yoga, it helps calm the mind as well. Get yourself pumped up; the bed won’t feel as appealing as it did a while ago and you will instead head for a shower.

#4 Take a shower

There is nothing like a shower that can wake you up proper. Whether it’s with hot water or cold, the water will help you step out of drowsiness and into a fresh new day. And of course, don’t stop singing along to the music!

#5 Breakfast

Make an effort for your first meal of the day. Don’t just grab a fruit and a cup of coffee. Sit down and have your meal. Have toast with eggs and ham and bacon and all that is pleasurable in the world. With a full stomach, you can conquer anything.

#6 No procrastination

If there was something you needed to do over the weekend or on Friday, do not, I repeat, DO NOT leave that till Monday. When you wake up to the thought of having something to do, and in a hurry since you’re late, you automatically put yourself in a bad mood.
