Music makes the world go round; we all know that and many of us would travel for good music. And why not, travelling in itself is another pleasure that people seek. Now that you can get best of the both the worlds, who’d not want to travel? There are music festivals taking place all over the world but how many have you attended in India itself? Music is a very broad term, so many genres, so many artists that bring you different music that it’s never really enough for your ears. #1 Shiva Squad Festival

Shiva Squad is a well-known three-day festival by the music lovers who fancy travelling to the hills. You get to witness some insane music from various genres like Rock, Fusion, Psy-Trance, Trance, Electronic, Hi-Tech, Jazz, R&B, Folk Music and Classical. SSF takes place at Morpheus Resort, Manali by the Beas River. So, you have a good view while you’re dancing to the music. What have you got to lose?



#2 Mood Indigo

IIT Bombay’s Mood Indigo is an annual cultural fest is India’s biggest college music fest. From the biggest artists of India to Bands like Porcupine Tree, Karnivool and Simple Plan have performed there. Being Asia’s biggest festival, Mood Indigo is also the oldest one to make people jump out of their spots! It’s a four daylong event that manages to keep you on your toes and takes place by the end of December every year.



#3 Summer Storm

This festival is for the all the metal fanatics out there in India. It’s the greatest metal event that India has ever come across.  Summer Storm had bands like Lamb of God, Opeth, Inner Sanctum and many more rocking out to the fans. The event attracts thousands of metalheads from all over India and outside every summer to Palace Grounds in Bangalore. If you’re a head-banger and want to engage in mosh pitting, crowd surfing, this is the place for you.



#4 Bacardi EVC – Enchanted Valley Carnival

Just two years old and EVC has already got people going gaga over the festival. The event focuses on genres like, Trance, House, Techno, Fusion Indie and also experiments with music. It takes place at Aamby Valley City all over Asia. EVC has camping options and adventure activities that allow you to experience a great time altogether.



#5 Bacardi NH7 Weekender

To put it in the simplest way, this is hands down the most amazing festival India has got to offer. NH7 Weekender kicked off in December 2010 and has got people coming back every year ever since. Weekender brings you artists from different genres from all over the world. It takes place in Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, and Kolkata and is also happening for the first time in Shillong this year. This three-day festival has got so much in store for you and one can still not get enough of it!



#6 Sunburn

Sunburn takes place in the heavenly land of beaches, Goa. This dance music festival pulls crowd from all over the world. It has been listed number 9 on best dance festivals of the world list and is held over three days in December every year. Just because it’s held in Goa on a beach, it also gives you the time to explore the beautiful architecture and adventure.



#7 Gulmarg Winter Fest

This fest is very different from others, all because it takes place in an area covered up with snow, for real! How many times have you done that?  Enjoy some great Classical, Jazz, Rock, Sufi, Folk, Fusion and Indie genres while you get to indulge into winter sports like, snowboarding, skiing, snow-biking and more. #8 Holi Cow

Holi is one of the biggest festivals India and if you get an event happening around that time, it’s like cherry on top of the cake. Just like the festival, Holi Cow takes place in Delhi at the same time, of course. The festival makes you enjoy your time with performance artists, visual artists which are a treat to your eyes. Talking of music, your ears get to enjoy some Dancehall, Hiphop, Raggae, Electronic Dance and Indie.



#9 Sula Fest

Taking place at Sula vineyards in Nasik, you get to spend some great time with fashion, wine and beautiful music. The fest encourages music genres like, Raggae, Dubstep and Electronic music. Kicked off on Sula’s 10th harvest, the festival has got more and more recognition and has grown in terms of popularity. Sula Fest offers you a great time and is a pretty good getaway for Mumbaikars.



#10 Ragasthan

Ragasthan as the name suggests is a festival of completely different genre that you have probably never attended. Taking place in the beautiful city of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, it attracts a good amount of crowd and gives them the opportunity to camp in open areas where you enjoy the night sky lit with stars. Ragasthan is a three-day festival that offers different outdoor activities, local cuisines, art and great music.



#11 Parvati Peaking

Parvati Peaking is just two years old in the list of festivals and is already on our list. It is considered to be one of the biggest and best Psy-Trance festivals taking place in India. It gets you the best of Psy-Trance artists and happenings and the location like Choch, Parvati Valley, Himachal Pradesh speaks for itself. This three-day festival gives you a good amount of time to explore the majestic hills.



#12 Hornbill Festival

Hornbill festival is a massive 10 day long carnival that provides you with a really good dose of culture and music. It is known for tribal art, music and the ethnic cuisine. This is where the biggest rock contest of the country takes place. It gives you a chance to learn about the rich culture Nagaland has to offer. Taking place in Kohima, Nagaland it attracts a lot of travellers.
